Almost definitely. I travel INV - GLQ return 2-3 times a week and I couldn't tell you the last time it was a 158.
Not sure if any 158s are scheduled from ABD - GLQ though.
If it's the one on the front cowling to the left of the coupler then I believe it's to illuminate for the forward facing camera.
If I remember correctly there is one in the pantograph well too for the camera situated there.
A quick search on RTT shows that 1H21 arrives into platform 4 at INV at 07:45. The next departure from platform 4 is 1T98, the 08:45 to GLQ (Glasgow Queen Street).
RTT shows this as arriving into platform 7N in ABD at 09:10. It then performs a move to platform 4, where it becomes 1T18, the...
Amazon already offer their Locker pick-up service from a few railway stations:

You can also select Doddle as a delivery service for the majority of their locations when ordering from Amazon, which has been available since...
Definitely the left hand side when departing Kyle - did this journey myself on Saturday. The coastal views leaving Kyle are absolutely stunning.
After you've passed Strathcarron the lineside vegetation and trees are quite heavily overgrown so for quite a stretch you get nothing but leaves and...
Afternoon all,
ScotRail will be running reduced timetables from this Sunday (5th July) onwards due to the lack of drivers volunteering to work Sunday's during the ongoing dispute. Details here.

ScotRail has confirmed that ongoing train driver unavailability will force it to...
Thanks for that Flamingo and others, that's along the lines I was thinking.
I had to hand it to the guard for noticing the belongings left behind and using his initiative to get them to the station the woman left at for her to collect instead of sending them to a central lost property office...
Evening all,
Hoping someone a bit more knowledgeable can answer a question for me!
Don't want to go into too much detail on here as it's an open forum and you never know who is reading, but I was travelling on a service today that was stopped in a platform awaiting a crossing service to...
Not sure if they still do, but ScotRail and Transport Scotland commissioned the GARL route and Class 380 to be created for Railworks to aid driver training. When the Scottish Government cancelled the GARL project, the publisher Totalize Media adapted it for 'consumer use'.
Spoons is a couple of minute walk from the station, right exiting the entrance, first left, then right, then 50m down on the right. 9/10 breakfast there is pretty decent (My hangover cure on the way to work!).
Depending on what time you're wanting breakfast, there's a couple of independent...
Sorry, that's essentially what I meant - sleep deprivation getting the better of me!
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
INV - ABD is advertised as having FC and these services are predominantly operated by 170's these days.
IIRC the Inverness based 158's (701 - 725) that were...
I would imagine that the guard on the train wouldn't have had any prior notification that they were there? I'm assuming if it was publicised where they are operating, those who are normally less inclined to purchase a valid ticket would do so or catch another service/
I've had the same on ScotRail and the old EC, never had a problem sitting in a different seat in 100+ journeys. If the train is busy I'll often remove my seat reservation and show it to the guard to let them know. In my experience most don't seem to care as long as you're on the right train.
