Least I now know to try & use Coach A wherever possible to get a non-table seat. Being a big guy (tall & fat) makes it irritating to get in/out of table seats (esp stopper services to Dewsbury where half the train decamps there). Thankfully the commute from Leeds to Huddersfield isn't too bad...

I suppose that's the downside of making them free to use - you'll always attract some form of unsavoury use which in turn costs money to monitor and/or repair damage.

Probably down to the management of the station - Network Rail (Leeds) vs Northern (Bradford). More people made a big stink over the bigger stations so NR made them free.

Just guessing but for diversionary or emergency routing on the KGX > Harrogate trains? Instead of going into Leeds then out to Harrogate that way or possibly just the easier pathing route they could do at the time.

Is it just the concourse loo's being closed for refurb? Probably in relation to the main concourse refurb as well. Pointless spending money on that if they aren't going to refurb the loo's too.

I would image the lack of tables makes it easier to modify/fix problems internally with them not getting in the way, or if they need the space for something.
