    Virgin coaches through Shrewsbury 11/12?

A friend of mine said he was stopped at Harlescott crossing yesterday and assuming it would be a DMU, didn't pay much attention, but upon glancing up saw it was a rake of old Virgin liveried stock...possibly Mk 2's...he didn't see what was hauling it - does anyone know the story?

BR Blue HST AWS + DB 143 queries

Ta for reply - I think I may have missed the voice as I was messing about with outside views when passing the signals - did one of the scenarios with the 101 and heard the warning - not a clue what was being said though!

BR Blue HST AWS + DB 143 queries

Just a quick couple of questions - during the evening express scenario (Newcastle to York) if I passed a yellow signal the AWS would sound, but there was another noise after I'd cancelled it, a low bleeping sound - just wondered what it was. I had a go at the passenger scenario with the DB...

    Failed 3 scenarios Portsmouth line

Thanks for the replies; I guess it must be due to lateness, but in answer to the question about the 450, I do find its acceleration to be a bit sluggish, hence why I can't keep it to time. The only time I got it to near 90mph was down a gradient, but then I hit a 70mph limit and had to slow...

    Failed 3 scenarios Portsmouth line

Now I am fairly new to playing RW, but am getting a bit better at it, keeping to speed limits, and getting the whole train on the platform etc, but out of the 3 (easy) scenarios on the Portsmouth line expansion, I have failed all three, even though I have finished them and done what I was...

    .Net framework problem

It does seem odd that the service pack can't be updated - I would think thats at the root of the problem as the version of .NET that is required is installed on the computer.

    .Net framework problem

My mate has just bought the game, but upon trying to start it gets an error with the .Net framework thingy...hes tried uninstalling it and the game but can't play it at all. Any ideas what the problem might be? He's running Vista SP1, and has had issues with other programmes because he can't...

    Diesel Hydraulics at Shrewsbury

wow what an amazing list, many thanks again! Maybe a few to put on the Christmas list amongst those! There were a couple of other titles I had been looking at as well, which also covered the other hydraulic classes as well, which are: The Western's Hydraulics by J.K Lewis and...

The Ludlow Christmas Fayre UK Railtours

So thats what 6024 and Tornado were doing in the sidings at Coton Hill earlier then! There were a lot of folks in Hi-Viz jackets gathered around 6024, and its smoke box door was open - assuming this was routine (not an expert of steam loco technology sorry). Lovely to see them as I...

    Diesel Hydraulics at Shrewsbury

Many thanks for the reply - a couple of days ago I received the book Diesels in Depth - the Westerns, and there are numerous photos of the D1000's in the West Midlands, including one double page shot of D1036 at Gobowen. You would think the class was concentrated in the area from looking at...

Are our railways haunted? (ghost stories)

Apologies if this has already been posted, I don't think I have seen it though...its probably either photoshopped or something wrong with the film, but it still struck me as a little odd! http://www.railphotoprints.co.uk/index/detail/10000/253006-253013-Y-Paddington-290477-JC010.jpg.html

    Diesel Hydraulics at Shrewsbury

I was mooching around the internet to see if there were any photos of Warships and Westerns in Shrewsbury, and found a few of both; As far as I know the Warships worked through to Crewe, and the Westerns powered the Birkenhead to Paddington trains, did they get to the town with any other work at...

Cooking facilities in drivers cabs? Really?

In the plans for one of the 81-85 series in the recent Modern Locomotives illustrated a drivers cooker is pointed to...I am guessing it was part of the secondmans duties to make the tea/warm the pie etc :D

    Collision at Bristol Temple Meads?

Heres the HSE report on the Severn Tunnel collision: http://www.railwaysarchive.co.uk/documents/HSE_Severn%20Tunnel1991.pdf In the book The Power of the HST's there are a few photos of the HST that was involved in the Newton Abbott collision - 158833 hit PC 43071 at 10mph and still made a...

Thanks for the replies, I had a feeling it might be a little late to get one now. However, I have been told that the new issue will be stocked at Cardiff Central, so hopefully my mate can call in for one.
