it’ll be interesting to see what happens there. SE’s pay is always behind Southern and Thameslink. you would think that SE would have to bring their driver’s pay in line with that of GTR’s to keep them from jumping ship. that said, they haven’t seemed to think it was necessary in years gone by.

I’m off to signalling school at the end of February after nearly 13yrs of driving trains. I’m used to the strict drug and alcohol policy as well as random screening but I’m still surprised to hear this as I don’t remember it being an issue at drivers training school.

I'm not concerned as I'm teetotal, I just find it interesting(and crazy) that this could happen to someone while at signalling school.

how does this happen? do they carry out regular drug and alcohol testing at the signalling school?!?

I stand by my previous post - whether you have been fully exonerated or not, everything goes on your record. that said, I fully agree with what driver9000 said - a cat A SPAD doesn’t mean that another TOC wouldn’t take you on, particularly if it’s been a few years since the incident.

EVERYTHING goes on your record. if you have a SPAD(or any other safety of the line incident) the issue will be how much time has passed since you had the incident. if it's been years with no other incidents then it shouldn't be a problem. if it was fairly recent, or you have multiple incidents)...

NR has travel distance restrictions? I did wonder but I hadn’t noticed it mentioned in the postings?
