    Trainsplit sending data to Facebook?

I've dug a little further, and when I open the trainsplit app (without me trying to log in), it tries to access: app-measurement.com graph.facebook.com I guess that the thinking behind that is that those two sites pay something (a tiny amount?) to trainsplit for the data that I am a train...

    Trainsplit sending data to Facebook?

Apps communicating with Facebook have been in the news again after apps like Spotify failed yesterday. Apparently it's to do with Facebook Software Development Kit (SDK). I checked and TrainSplit has still been sending data to Facebook. I admit I am still confused as to what's innocent...

UK rolling stock Air conditioning - recycled air or not?

Another quote, from Don Milton of the Uni of Maryland: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/mar/08/coronavirus-cruise-ship-dock-oakland-us-death-toll-climbs I guess a train like Eurostar would be the closest to how a cruise ship works, because it can't take tunnel air.

Interrail plan - best to use Interrail passes or point-to-point tickets

Assuming that you enjoy travelling by train (ie longer journeys), I think you could do it all (except Eurostar) on non-reservable trains, giving you the flexibility you would want. I think splitting at Arlon, Luxembourg and Trier on day 3 would save a lot.

UK rolling stock Air conditioning - recycled air or not?

In light of concern about using Daily Mail as a source, it can be noted that the findings are by "scientists from the National Centre for Infectious Diseases in Singapore, who found evidence of the virus in the hospital's air exhaust. This "suggests that small, virus-laden droplets may be...

Is TfW & Trans-Pennine Conspiring to deprive Avanti of Revenue?

It's £96.80 each way if you come back. And many will value the flexibility over Advance tickets.

Wash your hands for 1 euro at German stations

£1.62. Shocking. And they clearly have a coronavirus issue there right now.

Wash your hands for 1 euro at German stations

Will the coronavirus change your view on this?

Wash your hands for 1 euro at German stations

In what way are they filthy? I don't think drops of urine carry much danger, and surely people wash their hands after number 2? Also I'm not sure that urine or faeces carry coronavirus.

Wash your hands for 1 euro at German stations

That's a lot! I think it's safer for all if the majority have had the chance to wash their hands for free, rather than just a few people who were desperate enough to pay to use the toilet.

Wash your hands for 1 euro at German stations

Yes but with a minimum spend of €2.50 or €5 at a single outlet of their choice, it isn't really worth much.

Wash your hands for 1 euro at German stations

Now that health advice is to wash hands for 20 seconds before eating, and after using public transport, will the German stations unbarrier their toilets? Charging 1 euro definitely reduces the number of people who will bother to wash their hands.

Why is the French name for Brussel-Zuid not Bruxelles-Sud?

Many English speakers would take Brussels South station to mean Charleroi station ie the one near Brussels South airport.

    Trainsplit sending data to Facebook?

An example of how someone may be affected by this: Person has an outwardly heterosexual Facebook profile but travels by train to places that hold Pride street events. Facebook notes that the travel patterns match those of people who have been categorised as queer street protestors, so also...

Making sense of the VRR zones (Duesseldorf, Dortmund etc)

I have just looked at the 19 new "C" regions here https://www.rheinbahn.de/tickets/preisstufen/Broschren%20%20Flyer/Flyer%20Preisstufe%20C%20ab%202018.pdf And I see your point - there is no single C ticket that covers the area in your map!
