It is possible to make a significant difference in terms of annual energy costs for a little bit of inconvenience, depending on one's circumstances. Refrigeration is an always on demand, but it does vary with the seasons, the frequency of access and the method of loading/unloading.
I think you...
Actually, defence is a quite potent export driver. Just as many in the UK see procuring expensive capital defence equipment from the US as a capitulation to the US's global grip on products, there are administrations of smaller (but equally advanced countires) that see the UK and other major...
In a way, we will all become slaves to not wasting valuable resources of which energy is a prime example. With a single fixed rate for electricity, there is a tendency to say that only what you use matters, not when. That may heve been true when climate change was unknown to the majority of the...
Yes I know, I'm on Octopus Flux which gives me three different rates per day and (of course) automatically changes from UTC+0 and UTC+1 and back every year. The whole setup is set up and runs without any intervention from users. I really can't understand this irrational fear of smart meters that...
Given the last government was hell bent on starving the BBC to extinction, no petition is going to persuade the BBC to use its shrinking budget to subsidise a service for obsolete electricity meters, benefitting a commercial industry. I imagine that this change is just what the energy companies...
Which will be the ultimate sanction (along with.ever tightening restrictions on where IC vehicles are tolerated) for those intent on continuing to polluted where an alternative is the norm.
I would see that as 'not enough buildings to home them.''
Mainly because the housing culture here is that houses are more often seen as investments than buildings that provide living space. That has made the price of land higher, which is refected in house prices that effectively price out many...
The 1956 entry for 'Shenfield to Chelmsford and Southend Victoria' is partly incorrect. The stretch between Shenfield and Chelmsford was electrified at 25kV in 1961, just before the mainline from Chemsford to Colchester in 1962. There were no clearance problems on that section in meeting the...
That bothers me not, - unlike the issue of carnage used in as describing trivial problems that others share ire along with me.

Poor voice to text can be a nightmare. Best to utter garbage until it gives up and you get to speak to a real human.
In the OED, Merriam-Webster Dictionary, Cambridge Dictionary, Collins Dictionary, Dictionary.com the english word 'carnage' is defined as involving death on a large scale. The word also translates into the same or a similar derivative of the french word 'charnage' or the germanic words for...
It's how I feel about the frequent misuse of carnage to describe relatively minor events, - a stage beyond extreme dislike and irritation. Totally different from what @Gloster is describing.
Carnage misuse is a pet hate for me, it's typical trashy tabloid language, and used by some members on RUK. Other sensationalist words include meltdown and chaotic, - there are lenty more.
It's not just errors that you can access, - if another member quotes you, you can't edit the words of your that are within another's post. Every time I make a boob, it's a bit like the speck of cabbage stuck on somebnody's tooth, staring at you like a searchlight.
