End of slam doors on lymington branch

Are these the only slam door trains left in the country? (I thought they were all scrapped about 5 years ago?) I'm taking my son to London next month and would love to ride on a slam door again. But we're staying in Borehamwood so this is probably a bit too far away.

Reserved seat for the nipper on First TPE?

There's no chance of that. He's far too big to sit on anyones knee, his legs wouldn't fit underneath the table and he'd be constantly getting up and trying to run off! OK for a one or two year old but he's 4 1/2yrs. At least with his own seat he'd probably fall asleep. We're getting the...

Reserved seat for the nipper on First TPE?

Thanks for the replies. I had a quick wander onto the 2:22pm Liverpool - Scarborough FTPE this afternoon, 5 mins before it was due to leave, just to check the train out before catching my regular Northern Rail train home. I was reasonably assured with what I saw that things should be OK when...

Your favourite member of railway staff (no picking yourself)

My fave has to be Elizabeth the large black lady who does the ticket barrier at Liverpool Lime Street. She's been working there at least since I was a kid, which was back in the 80's, and is always very helpful, friendly and polite!

Reserved seat for the nipper on First TPE?

Myself, my girlfriend and her three kids are travelling from Liverpool to Scarborough (split tickets at Leeds!) on the First Transpennine Express next month off on our hols. Her two oldest girls are both over 5yrs and have their own tickets and reserved seats at the table opposite us but her...

What is the point in London Overground serving Watford Junction?

Surely it would be more sensible for TFL to extend the Travelcard to call at the final station on one their own lines. Afterall, looking at the map, it litterally is only ONE single stop outside of the regualar zones. We had a similar situation on Merseyside where the Merseyrail trains ran...

Can anyone recommend some great Tube rides?

Just to let everyone know I've been popping in and out over the last week and a half and have been reading all the posts, along with the other research I've been doing for sightseeing and attractions for our trip. Some really great suggestions so far and many thanks to everyone for all the...

Can anyone recommend some great Tube rides?

By interesting I suppose I kind of mean trains that are a bit old and pass through decorative / old fashioned looking stations (any disused stations would be a bit of a bonus too - remember going though Mornigton Crescent in the 90's etc) I've been telling my son about the DLR. He thinks it's...

    Liverpool - Filey

Just booked 7 nights for the family at Haven Primrose Valley in Filey from 28th August. The journey is comprised off two legs; First train is Liverpool to Seamer followed by the short trip from Seamer to Filey. Ridiculously the "all in" return price for the complete journey is £57.60...

Can anyone recommend some great Tube rides?

Hi folks first post! I'm taking my seven year old son to London for his first time next month. I loved the London buses and trains as a kid and often went on family trips to London as a child and fell in love with the Routemasters' and The Tube - so much more exciting than the dull Pacer trains...
