Also, I know this is not totally related to the upgrade, but I've heard about a service change which should improve reliability from December - the MAN - LDS stopper will be split into two at Huddersfield with two separate trains running the service and the MAN - HUD service will stop...
It's the same as when a subsidiary/associated position light signal is cleared - the OSS is still active. Generally as a rule I stick to 15mph on the approach even if the PoSA/sub is cleared where the signal has OSS
Balcombe, Clayton and Quarry tunnels on the Brighton Main Line all have stop signals inside. I don't recall any serious issues occurring as a result.
As long as a clear and well planned procedure is in place for rescuing passengers from a stranded train quickly using another train stopped on...
The displays are useless. I've said this since I first saw the trains testing - the font is too small and they're not bright enough. A certain member of the forum who used to contribute regularly with testing information about 700s disagreed with me and said the spec for the displays was fine...
I believe this would be possible still when 700s are under ATO as the conventional signalling and train detection systems are remaining. I may be wrong but I think this is the case.
That doesn't surprise me with Cleethorpes!
TPE policy is not to run trains in service with graffiti on, so yes this will be going in for graffiti removal I'd imagine.
It's a shame to see a good bit of bickering and slightly off-topic conversation about whether people like Steve Coogan or not has got in the way of the facts.
The train wasn't short formed. The portion from Littlehampton is usually less busy than the portion from Eastbourne - people could have...
Unfortunately until people are forced to stop putting feet up on seats we are always going to have this problem. I'd rather see the dirt as on this seat material than have the truth hidden from me. The new 185 seats are also quickly starting to look horrendous, particularly on the seat bases.
I can only speak for 185s as they're the only diesel traction I sign, but if you stop all of the engines, the train will run out of battery and will be a failure in anything as little as 20 minutes. If you are shutting the engines down you must also switch off the train's batteries - which means...
It didn't terminate at Stalybridge because I passed it coming into Piccadilly.
At the end of the day it's better to have one late train than two late trains because the express is stuck behind the stopper.
Aye, indeed it was cancelled Northbound - this seems to happen very regularly.
Just pointing out that I did my bit to at least make one train on time ;)
