    40191 - was this loco ever allocated to the Western Region ?

    I think it was full training - including fitters and secondmen. Severn Tunnel Junction men were also involved in the exercise. 40197 also spent a bit of time at ST, I believe.

    I've been on a train with a pair - 008 and 014. As previous posters have said, platform lengths don't permit 8 car operation. In this case 014 was locked out and unpowered. It must have failed at Forster Square but was being dragged by 008, as I got on at Frizinghall. It's the only time...

    Most Underrated Lines for Scenery

    Inverness - Aberdeen. Because it's very non-UK scenery - you could be anywhere in the world in places. Blatting across that with a pair of 31's was one of the most surreal UK experiences I've ever done.

    Woodhead Class 76 & 77 hypothetical question.

    Simple answer - no. It's about amps, not voltage. A 76/77 would, as soon as the pan was lifted, suck so much power out of the system that anything else in section would be flattened.
