Yes.
Quite right.
Hagley Hall more in keeping with the SVR, and not sure that Gordon would be that easy to steam or restore for most railways.
Spose that the Black 5 was the obvious choice of the 3.
Agree whole heartedly with criticism of people who enjoy the hobby but wont contribute from...
Saddened, although understand the need.
Shame it had to be 45110.
Engine with a fine pedigree.
Just hope it goes somewhere that will look after it that isnt too far away.
Cant say that i am surprised by the cancellation.
Many is the time that interesting things are anounced and excitement is generated only to be cancelled shortly before the event.
Nature of the beast i suppose, but v disappointing non the less.
As long as the coaches are adequately maintained, effectively stewarded and used correctly by passengers then there is no greater risk than there has ever been.
Far greater risk travelling by road to get there, or with people on the track or with crossings
Of course you strive to minimise risk...
Cant quite see what the debate is about. Who knows what plans may or may not be put together in future.
Probably will remain an interesting exibit of engineering dereliction, but i would sooner have it around than not.
Once engines have gone, they certainly cant be bought back.
Agree with all of the above.
Love 37s but you can have too much of a good thing.
None of the 37s were especially rare, so other than the opportunity to line 3 scottish locos up for a photo, not quite sure what it achieved.
Maybe a Colas or Europheonix 37 may have been a bit more unusual and...
Was thinking that they might have been travelling in the morning and photting in the afternoon or visa versa.
If just having a free day entertainment then maybe they should think of making a donation if they havent already done do.
supporting the railway in troubled times is the best way to...
Great event and hats off to the SVR.
Hope the event was a financial success for them. They need it.
Few learning points for future but in no way detracting. Hope the wonderful volunteers didnt get too much grief from idiots re non connecting services.
As someone has already said, if the trains...
Thanks both. I will be there tomorrow.
Was hoping for something a bit rarer than 60062, but there you go.
Know what you mean about photobombers. Drive you mad.
I will be going to the diesel gala because the SVR needs our support.
Having said that, cant help feeling that the planners have gome for quantity over quality.
Timetabling the rarer visitors for one trip only and either at the same time or so late in the day is not the best in my opinion...
Take on board all of the above points and certainly agree with excluding yobs and people who might detract from the experience of others.
Totally agree that hoodies, ripped jeans and t shirts with offensive slogans have no place.
However, taken a bit too far to exclude smart trainers, smart...
We all have differing thoughts, views, ideas and values and i think all should be tollerant of that.
Some people are bound to be more sentimental than others.
All irrelevant now a decision has been taken.
A good summary Trainlog and agree with you.
Like you, i am dissapointed by the news, but do give Didcot credit for giving time for a buyer.
To be fair, in the current financial climate, it was always a long shot.
In the longer term, i am sure that someone would have taken on this job and...
Think it is a bit naughty telling people to consider another hobby because their views differ.
There are many differing views and everybody is entitled to theirs.
I would love to see Thornbury restored and have little interest in new builds, but that is just my opinion.
Unfortunately economics...
