Meanwhile, Any news on killing off the anaerobic bacteria in the tunnel??? (eg some uv or a flashing blue-end light (interleaved with standard traffic ) would kill a few bugs, or at least liven the area up
OK can a type 92 (eg pulling a steel train from Wales) do a run through the Severn Tunnel then run on eastwards on the main line. And would it need to run as a double header??
Meanwhile ...any more news on progress in THE tunnel??? (its nearly March...)
Later - but there is hope … according to noel dolphyns twitter feed there is a furrer and frey hand over meeting at the end of the month (E & OE)
Meanwhile
if I bike down to Pilning will I see any locos with pantographs up???
(are we getting any nearer with using the tunnel (with juice on) commercially)
meanwhile the engineers are scruggling down under the Shoots with their lengths of bright ally alloy cable (6082?? - I hope its not prone to Stress corrosion cracking.
Anyone know how they are doing.
Oh - I would have thought that the steady climb up from the river towards Patchway was ideal emu territory - even just collecting performance data??
Meanwhile, has anyone reported trying the tunnel with the pan up yet?? Perhaps a weekend trial??
Isnt the 75 mph caveat on max speed in the tunnel in the appendix to the letter from the ORR??
And ii there any hope of an augmented role for Pilning now its wired in the network. its only 7 miles away from M4/M5 but a twice a week timetable doesn't really cut it except perhaps for Cardiff...
Where has that march month come from. what are they actually doing with the tunnel ??collecting data, polishing up the conductors...?? offering prayers??
Again, any more definitive words from Mr Dolphyn??
