Wow that test was hard! Hope that isnt a 100% pass requirement.... 2 complete guesses, confident on the rest.
Freightliner though.... very tough in my experience, applied twice never heard anything. Using same application info that go me as far as a passed driver interview with Northern
There is a 2 hand practice test CD for PC available to buy, from the How2Become series. You can google it and buy from Amazon. I bought all of these. Be wary of them - some of them are very very similar to the real tests but in my opinion just different enough for you to be falsely prepared...
Can anyone tell me more about the conductor role, and what it entails, particularly at Northern? I guess there is more to it than riding the routes checking & selling tickets?
One good thing about Watford (the only thing?!) is the plentiful supply of cheap multi storey car parks. They seem to be everywhere and as its a small town centre you can walk from any of them to anywhere else very easily. There seem to be so many car parks you often have an entire floor for...
Thanks everyone thats all really good info. I think I will apply next time it gets advertised. Adam yes my most likely depot would be Leeds. Good to see that guards there are progressing to be drivers; do they ever get opportunities to apply as drivers that dont get advertised externally?
Havent really considered this until now; have been waiting for another attempt at driver.
But there have been a few trainee conductor roles recently, and hating my current job with a passion, starting to think this may be a good way in?
Does anyone know if this really is a good way in? Is...
The site is absolute garbage and frequently just does not work. Especially the application form, which even when it does work is just plain strange, compared to other TOC application processes. I have applied twice with them and hate it. No reply either time so that doesnt help!
HGV driving is, I think almost the perfect answer for "task similar to train driving" question. I used van driving. They will though ask for a specific time. I just spoke about a long job driving to cornwall. I didnt think there was much to say about it really, pretty basic, but just mentioned...
Ok guys thanks for that. At least I know where I went wrong and am confident I will pass next time. Pressure on though - 2 x 45 sec tests, and final chance - fail and its game over, last 2 years all wasted!
Yes, I had to search for sets of 2 symbols, eg ** or OO. There were 4 pairs of symbols on a card and we had to find them on a sheet.
But the sheet was lots of 'phonebook' style entries for businesses; in the first test, we were looking for plumbers. I thought we had to find plumbers with the...
Has anyone out there done this test recently? I just took the assessment day and this was the only module I failed on. I would like to know more about it because I dont really understand why I failed (the OPC are being very cagey about giving feedback. All I have is 'pass' or 'fail' for each). I...
Reaction test equivalent on the new tests is the WAFV. Stare at a grey square and hit the button very quickly when it turns black. Dont know whereabouts of a practice tool
Ok I think I get it - a question though - is this one of those things where the cursor continues to move constantly in a direction and you have to get it back from wandering off line, or does it only move when you direct it?
Great, thanks Red, this is a new test so I dont know what to expect. I sat the old version last summer (just my luck, immediately before everything changed). Was just trying to brush up on all the new tests
I've done a search but cant find this.... Does anyone know of a computer based practice tool for the new 2 Hand test (such as there is for the GBT?) Would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, JC
