My understanding from interview was that the courses this year were pencilled in for March (or maybe heard May) then August/September. Has anyone heard if pay issue was resolved though? Would it be right to think any delay may be until that’s sorted so they know how many drivers can be recruited?
If you got through rest assured you interviewed really well, competition will be sky high for any train driver role, I’m sure I heard at interview they had over 3,000 applications. It’s just the normal way to wait in a talent/holding pool. What I would say is don’t put all your eggs in one...
Hi it’s not a trainee role it’s for qualified drivers:

Hi
I was one of the VTEC trainee applicants who didn’t get taken on.
We still get updates from LNER and have received one this morning advising that they will be looking for Qualified only Train Drivers for Newcastle.
Still nothing for us hoping to get a trainee role but it may help anyone...
Like others have said I’m sure I also signed to confirm I’d received a pack at least 7 days prior to the test. One of the few things VTEC got right was they gave us about 6 weeks to prep. Fully understand why you wouldn’t want to rock the boat by requesting a later date but if you can speak to...
Possibly, here’s the reply;
Unfortunately, we are still sifting in stages for this role. So, if you have not received an update yet, we have not reached your application. We will email either way regarding the outcome, when we reach your application. Thanks for your patience.
Anyone else heard anything on this? Still just showing at application submitted on Northerns site so no news either way for me. Is it usual to interview before CV sift completed?
MMI is a competency based interview where you’ll first be asked to write down times when you demonstrated certain behaviours “tell me about how you reacted in an emergency situation?” etc. From memory there are 5/6 scenarios.
If you got through the driver interview though you’ll be fine just...
There’s some great other threads on here which cover it all in detail but usually paper tests first inc group bourdon (again loads of practice resource available on here) followed by computer tests and then MMI. I didn’t do mine at Doncaster so not sure on that venue but they’re actually really...
The MDD role at Heaton appeared a few weeks before the driver role and those interviews took place beginning of July. If similar timescales (although guess Driver CV sift may be larger) I’d guess maybe early August for interviews possibly/hopefully!
I didn’t complete cables and dials and still passed, advice is on a balance of speed and accuracy, at the time when leaving the assessment I thought I should have worked quicker but it was clearly ok. There’s no definite on bourdon but opinion on here ranges from between 8-12 accurate lines...
Got the rejection email today after interview a couple of weeks ago, good luck to all still in with a shout. Was really impressed with depot and future plans seems a good place to work
We are aware of an issue with emails from the Forum to Microsoft-based email accounts (hotmail/outlook/live.com email addresses). This is being looked into currently, thanks for your patience meanwhile.
