Always makes me wonder, how many incidents have been prevented by having a second person in the cab (ie road learner) realising the mistake and telling the driver in time? Will never be recorded as the only ones who know are the two guys that were in the cab at the time! :wink:

It's a guard, not a ticket officer, their primary role is the safe working of the train. Is your complaint with the guard because their skin colour is different to your own?

RTC is something I have tried and do not find useful at all (personally). I think forcing drivers to use it is wrong as people find different ways to cope with running under restrictive aspects and it should be down to choice.

Sounds to me like they've possibly written that little note at the end of the letter in the hope that you will apply again in future. If every driver stopped every train each time someone ran down the platform shouting because they've missed their train, you would in a lot of cases, never leave the station.

I believe everyone has the right to a fair 'trial' and as public sympathy will no doubt lean towards the lady in the article because, as I have mentioned, traincrew are constantly criticised in the media, in many (if not the majority of) cases they are then shown to have not done anything wrong...
