The first way you suspected was my original plan, run through Crewe to try and get the earlier connection, but then my friend dropped a bombshell by booking advance tickets, So that went out the window!

Arriva Trains Wales offer free postage aswell, makes me use them a lot more, not paying the extra £2 for Virgin to post them to me!
