Let's hope they make some more effort to keep the OUTSIDES of their rolling stock clean as well. White was never going to be a good colour when you don't bother to wash anything.
During the summer, I went from Bath Spa to Avoncliff and had to get off the 150 unit by the staff access door behind the driver. Apparently, there was no individual door or coach control and two coaches could not be accommodated, so all the passenger doors were disabled while we got off from the...
This must have been this working

that I noticed just south of Streatham Common shortly after eleven this morning as I travelled towards Clapham Junction. I was dozing a bit, I must admit, but they were certainly VERY white...
Yes. Presumably, he knows which day he is travelling because he is asking the question at this time. Always try to buy in advance when at all possible as the madness of the system is that turn up and buy is nearly always much more expensive.
YTes, the Network Railcard during the week restricts you to post 10am. The NR website says that by buying two singles and using the Network Railcard you can get there and back for £13.00 by travelling after 10am.
Don't waste your time. Most of the people about whom you refer are either on expense accounts or have "company cars" and they don't give a stuff about you and me. It's the same whatever the Party.
I have a Network Railcard which is only valid when the discounted fare is £13 or more. I currently use an off peak 1-6 Travelcard and the current £8.90 cost is only discounted to £5.90 at the weekends. So I'm screwed nicely by them. Oyster cards are a scam that I have found out to my cost on...
I am partially disabled and had fun and games at Preston on Saturday 20th September last. Our Pendo was due at one platform but turned up 30 mins late on another platform that meant a quick hike over the bridge with my luggage. The announcement only came about the change as the fifth coach...
No chance of a cuppa or anything on a SE trains working going anywhere following the discontinuation of their on-board refreshment service at the beginning of this month. Better get your food and drink at St Pancras before setting off; there are plenty of places from which to make your choice. :)
Yes, couldn't agree more. I'm 6ft 5" and have a severe back problem. Looking at me getting up must remind people of scenes of a giraffe getting back upright after bending down for water. :)
A problem such as this causes delays obviously. How on earth can it be expected that 24 tph will be able to pass through the core of the system once the refurbishment programme is completed? They will never be able to maintain that volume of traffic hour after hour and day after day. This...
I remember a long journey on the full length of the S&C in a WYPTE Class 144 "thing" in the 1990s and only go on the line nowadays on rail tours for fear that one of those may be used in place of the usual 158. I know the seats are better on Pacers these days but the leg room is appalling and I...
White trains are crazy, especially with AGA who seem incapable of cleaning the outsides of their trains. I was at Stratford yesterday (Friday) and even the flagship Mark III services had white coaches that were filthy.
They're not the only TOC with white coaches and it's just such a stupid...
Well, that's me going to Paddington for a pee for a journey, say, between Maidenhead and Shenfield. With that sort of short sightedness why not just restrict CrossRail to Liverpool Street - Paddington?
Sadly, the next requirement will be the TOC trying to cram in as many seats as possible without worrying about passengers' needs, especially seat pitch. Modern seats are bolt upright without backrest tilt and as for those FGW high backrest seats...
Pacers are pieces of crap and no one in their right mind will disagree. No amount of refurbishment will make them attractive but, as said elsewhere, the subsidy per mile or per passenger is already huge, so what's the answer? I trust, however, that Northern's seat spacing at least will be...
Presumably, then, even dirtier windows and much more cramped inside than they currently are! Let's hope for the sake of those oop north that new seats at a higher position are installed.
