I've lived in Hong Kong for over 20 years and have met people from all over Europe. Dutch by the bucket load, French by the million, too many Germans to keep count of but not many Belgians. I know Cathay are starting Brussels soon and wish Air Belgium the best of luck but are there enough...

Philippine Airlines operate direct from Heathrow to Manila, albeit not daily, using a B777. Fares are not bad but there are other options with other airlines via Dubai or Abu Dhabi as there are a huge number of Filipinos and Filipinas working in the UAE. As mentioned upthread Skyscanner will...
My longest single flight was last year doing HKG - Chicago on CX806/CX807 which comes in on the great circle at a smidge under 7800 miles. The actual route was just a bit north of Japan so a bit more than the great circle routeing. Around 14 hours and 40 mins eastbound if I remember, a bit less...
I believe this would be classed as 'Unsporting Behaviour'. (page 7 of the attached from Fifa.) I suggest that once the ball has been reached it is expected to be hit. If he hesitated on the run up then fair play but not once the ball was reached. Jolly unsporting show there.
Can't speak for the 1981 TT as I don't have it to hand but in the '84 TT the fastest time from Paddington - Cardiff appeared to be 1h45m with stops at Bristol Parkway and Newport.
Bath looked to be doable in 1h13m with stops at Swindon and Chippenham in '84.
Love to see the '81 TT to see the...
Bit of drama at HK airport on Monday as a cargo loading vehicle caught fire and set subsequently set fire to some of the cargo and luggage during loading. N727AN is the ship in question and it was AA192. The aircraft is still in HK no doubt getting a once over to see if any damage to the...
Looks like that is not going to be the case unfortunately. Farewell Monarch. :(

I moved from Newcastle to Hong Kong for work in 1994 and have been here ever since. It is not any better than UK, not any worse just different. When I come back to UK now for a holiday like I did in July/ early August I cannot believe how slow things are in parts of the UK and how long it takes...
Flash and the Pan - Waiting for a train.
First ever visit to Wales (1982?), Cardiff Central having gotten off a train from Newcastle and waiting for a train to Paddington, all the while listening to radio on the Walkman thingy. This song came on and is my lasting memory of Cardiff.
Garuda Indonesia in 1994. Jakarta to Denpasar in a DC-10, right hand engine knocking its conkers (other words are available) off, taking off into a thunderstorm whilst the entire plane shook like anything. 1 hour flight and I was never so happy to see terra-firma again. On the way back DPS to...
There was a speech by Arnold J Rimmer in Red Dwarf about wars in the days of yore and how the side with the shortest haircuts always won and why in the Vietnam war as there were crew cuts both sides it was a no score draw.
Well, as there is a war of words with the 2 guys in the world with the...
When I was back in UK a couple of weeks ago, Tony Blackburn on Radio 2 mentioned something about the anniversary of Radio Caroline which, whilst being a bit before my time being born in '66, in my opinion did a lot to open up the radio airwaves to a whole new generation and deliver a different...
Thanks Paul. Just back in HK today after 2 weeks work and holiday in UK. Newcastle to Hong Kong via Dubai, 17 hours but still better than going via Heathrow.
Yep, that (number 6) goes to Stanley whereas the MTR goes to Ap Lei Chau Island. You can pick up some buses at stops near Ocean Park Station and miss out the tunnel traffic. Primarily only routes to the south west of HK Island have been altered so far.
