Interesting viewing the 2 Sydney - London flights operating the the moment, one is Qantas (QF1/QF2), one is British Airways (BA15/BA16).
The QF flights are Sydney - Darwin - London with around 21 to 21.5 hours in the air over the 2 westbound legs with a B787; BA are operating Sydney - Singapore...
Used Northlink Ferries for the first time over Easter weekend and took a quick return trip from Aberdeen to Shetland, both crossings on the the MV Hjaltland as a foot passenger with neither leg calling at Kirkwall. Boarding was easy and booked a sleeping pod both ways with brekkie included. The...
Throwing coins for luck is a Chinese thing (maybe others too). It has happened at airports too with passengers throwing coins into aircraft engines for 'luck' whilst boarding, resulting in the cancellation of the flight whilst the engines are 'decoined'. This has resulted in extra security in a...
Had my first experience of Lumo yesterday, Mar 16, and it all went swimmingly. Booked on the 1436 from London as far as Newcastle for just shy of £40 and got allocated window seat D/46. Great views, nobody next to me although the seat was reserved to Morpeth. Great knowing nobody else will get...
Flew back from Hong Kong to UK the other day on CX251 and now Cathay seem to no longer be flying over Russia on some (all ??) European routes meaning a longer flight. Not that they're flying that many flight these days of course but that's another story. CX 271 to Amsterdam also affected today...
All true perhaps but if you play it in hard mode you have to use the hints in subsequent guesses. if you don't use the hints its not accepted as a guess.
Disclaimer : Of course I don't know what mode the original guess was in but using the hints this way makes it a bit harder to guess.

I concur with this. When accessing the forum via the original bookmark, the page shows ' Not Secure 'next to the URL

Many thanks @kermit for the info, I'll use the new bookmark for now and see if it continue to keep me...
According to Timetable World, the year before (1979) it was operated by 'J.R. Striplin' of Tavistock. In the link, look down to the Independent Operators section.

My most vivid memories of being a youngster was taking the old DMU from Newcastle to the coast from the old P1, P2 & P3 in Newcastle Central. Always preferred the ones via Longbenton rather than Wallsend. Never got to go via the Riverside branch unfortunately or if I did I can't remember it.

Anyone seen the 'highlights' of the Tunisia vs Mali game tonight. ? That was some refereeing going on there. Blew for full time after 85 minutes and again before 90 minutes. Teams left the pitch, Mali came back to finish the game, Tunisia didn't so match awarded to Mali. Absolutely bonkers ...
MTRC here said the door of a wall mounted advertising panel came loose and hit the forward door leaf which in turn took out the rear door leaf also. Ironically it was an advert for MTRC itself that reportedly did the damage. After seeing some pics online I'm a bit skeptical as to whether the...
So has production but that's maybe for another topic..
The climate of The Earth has been changing since it was formed and will continue to do so, irrespective of whether somebody randomly glues themselves to a road or climbs on board a train. What was this protester's aims ? Stop the train ? ...
Oh my, looking at that photo and others in the stream bring back memories of what became the Stagecoach ones at Citybus in Ap Lei Chau Depot. Horrendously underpowered for some of the routes they were used on (260). Wouldn't have missed working on them for the world but so glad when they left...
