156907 (which would have become 407 if Northern had taken it) never got started. It's currently used to shunt other items around Long Marston that have BSI couplers. It will be a donor unit for others, just not sure of the timeline (but probably this year).

Actually turns out that the fault lies with the loco (more specifically the adaptor that's used to convert Class 37 brake signals...
So, 25kV supplies is a long used railway term for the overhead wires.
The overheads don't actually run "at" 25kV, they fluctuate. Recent standards when renewing AC overhead equipment (EN50163 is the standard - this is for trackside equipment) allow for higher transient voltages than previously...
769's cannot operate on overhead lines outside of their current operating area without further modification. The upgrade works in the Liverpool area has meant that the software that controls the traction package is a modified software for just these units. To travel further North would mean...
Having worked on 319's since their introduction to Selhurst in 1988 and throughout my career "down south" the traction motors (GEC G315BZ's) have always been a source of failure and I've always found not as good as the EE507's, which were definitely easier to maintain.
Imagine my delight (sic)...
It takes about 120 days to take apart, fix and put back together a 150. So roughly 4 months per unit. The ex-TfW units are not financially viable to repair anymore because TfW are getting new units. If Northern were to take on the ex-TfW 150's then they'd have to wait 4 months before the first...
Short answer is the refresh work could start soon (it has to be completed before Jan 26) along with some other stuff but I'm unaware of full scope.
323207 should be going back in.
