    A day in your life...

My new routine is as follows. Wake up. Spend the whole day in the house. Try not to get driven mad by the kids. Try not to get driven mad by the Mrs. Check company Coronavirus update emails. Being stood down and payed to do nothing sounds alright in theory, but in practice I’ve had enough...

Railway Staff on here: Have your company given you assurances on how to deal with the Coronavirus

We get regular email updates, nothing of note that effects drivers yet but the last one included that guards would no longer be doing ticket checks and a lot of office staff would be given the help to work from home.

Help Choosing Between Northern and GBRF.

If one of them has given you a actual start date pending successful medical I’d be going with that, make sure you actually get a job in the bag. Would be nothing worse than to turn a confirmed start date down for the other option only for them to pull the plug on you.

    West Midlands training

First 3 weeks were the most challenging as at that point everything was new to me as I came from coach driving. After that you have some knowledge to work from. The facilities at the academy are great and the trainers are all really good and nice people.

    It’s gone a bit quiet...

You could be waiting for ever to hear from freightliner. There is little to no contact from them in terms of updates while you wait either. (They might be bit quicker to get dmi done but expect to be left hanging after that). I passed everything with them and was put in the talent pool from...

    MMI interview

When you give them the answers on paper at the start of the day they just want you to be quite brief, a few sentences should be fine. They will then use that basic answer to interview you and will want lots of detail that all fits together well and doesn’t contradict anything you have already...

    Worcester Shrub Hill GWR

Hiya, can’t tell you much about GWR’s operations at shrub hill as I’m doing my training based from there with WMT but Worcester it’s self is a nice place with plenty of other beautiful places near by. As with any city there are some crap parts and nice parts close to the centre. I’d maybe look a...

    newbie

Make sure your C.V is put together top notch and when a position comes up drop everything your doing (if you can) and get your application done as they may close applications in as little as 24 hours. Put hours into doing your application it will make the difference. Best of luck bud.

    GWR driver assessment result

If you have completed stage 1 then you should have done the paper and pencil tests, stage 2 will consist of all the computer based tests and your mmi. They may then do your DMI the same day or you might have to go back. This is the standard kind of structure for the testing but it can change...
