It sounds all nice, fancy and modern but what purpose does it serve or who does it improve anything for?
Is it for rail operators to stop people taking routes their ticket doesn't allow? Can't believe that's a particularly high percentage of ticket irregularities to begin with and someone...
Yeah, I kind of feel like I should "claim" for the same reasons as you but it's always so much hassle for each tiny amount that it's just not worth my time
Sounds like a positive change. For far too long the LNER app has been listing trains as "sold out" so you cannot select them even when just wanting to buy an anytime ticket which was incredibly annoying and probably made plenty think they weren't allowed to travel on that train
Yes, you're right that is the full message they display - it's so annoying especially at that location where you're having to pick up your paper ticket on arrival at kings cross in order to continue your journey across London with no other choice!
And worse yet Thameslink's latest "Contactless and Oyster only are valid on specific routes and certain station"... Makes it sound like you can't use paper tickets on first hearing
If only I could when making cross london journeys... Worse yet when the ticket machines at kings cross rub it in your face when collecting your paper ticket with "next time buy an e ticket"
I did just take a look and there does seem to still be availability on all Brussels-London surprisingly, but only on a couple of the London-Brussels services remaining
Priced at £224 standard class
I find many journey planners seat people all close by by default then leaving sizeable space. LNER are ridiculous in that the give every journey a reservation even on anytime tickets leaving loads of reserved but empty seats, or worse still booking a reservation on an operator that doesn't even...
At £32.80 for a single peak reading to tfl zone 1 that has to be just about the most expensive contactless fare on the network.. just as well contactless payments are no longer capped at £30!
You don't usually have much choice with the barriers swallowing them. I've specifically asked to keep them before and simply been told no by gate staff
I boarded a late afternoon train from Alton to Waterloo which stopped at Esher just after 5pm despite the boards not showing it as doing so. The station was empty, a couple of people got on, noone got off but certainly didn't seem to be anything really deserving of a stop going on and everyone...
What alternative would you suggest?
The £2 bus fare is flexible and cheap for people. Any period ticket would cost a lot more upfront and therefore require people to commit making it less available as and when. Even if you use the £2 bus fare 5 days a week for a return journey you're only just...
In principle I agree, so then the issue becomes that the tube network is not always being used in that way.
Perhaps we need proper commuting trains to the extremities of the tube instead, I'm sure the people of epping, Uxbridge etc would very much prefer a proper train service over a slow tube...
