My comments regarding Truro and PZ have been covered. Re Salisbury, the building on the Island platform which looks like a signalbox wasn't. Bournemouth (Old) is still standing and the old Southampton Central box was pretty adjacent. There are other examples of old SR boxes still standing...

Your point isn't valid as it takes no account of where the traffic is origianlly sourced from. And neither is it valid as it takes no account of the ability of the rail infrastructure to handle the traffic.
