I also thought that they may have sorted the platforms to be able to fit 185s on but im not sure tbh.
While I agree the white rose is a missed opportunity, im not sure closing Morley or Cottingley would benifit anyone. The nearest line to the White Rose centre is the Leeds-Wakefield line...
The fish and chips has been on this week just gone, tbh your not missing much, the chips are nice but the fish is a bit bland, the lasange and sausage and mash are the best items on the all day menu.
The car park is closing for 12 weeks, not the station, think its for resurfacing and a new drainage system to be put in. There was some recent work done at Cottingley on a (new?) footbridge, not sure if they extended the platforms as well though.
It was table/waitress service last time i used it for food, but if you are just drinking you can just go up to the bar.
On the subject of the escalators, is there really any time advantage to exiting the station that way even if you are heading to St Pancreas? The barriers out to the main...
It still made sense to run it fast, for the benefit of passengers heading to Harrogate and Knaresbrough, it reduced their delay. Given the next service was leaving in 3 mins anyway, what would be the point in running the 0743 near empty, being signal checked behind the late running 0713.
A service i was on last week also had 'MAY BE RESERVED' over every seat, and indeed many of them were reserved, leading to mass confusion and musical chairs at York, thankfully i was alighting at Leeds as the platform was heaving with passengers. Is this just a fall back if the system goes down...
East Coast have lifted all ticket restrictions tomorrow on all trains, except those arriving/leaving London KX before 10am, morning peak still apply into and out of London.
Mr Waldo, its seems likely from your posts you bought a Advance TPE and connections tickets however the first train at Doncaster was a Northern Rail service which connected you to a TPE service at Sheffield. Announcements at Doncaster station are done manually by East Coast so if they had nobody...
If this was a Sheffield train, which seems likely at that time on a sunday morning then the guard cant have shouted 'we are the Manchester Airport train'. It could be the guard said 'Sheffield train' and the OPs memory is a little hazy given how long ago it was. I would let it go now personally.
The 1505 KX-Leeds and 1745 Leeds-KX did run in reverse formation today, ive no idea why, the set is booked to go back to Bounds Green on arrival in London.
The only Leeds-London KX train cancelled was the 0640 so where the 4 train loads into 1 comes from only you can answer??? I also highly doubt there was no announcement expaining the situation, were you actually on the so called train or is this a 3rd hand story?
