    Thameslink Services/Timetable from May 20th 2018

What incentive is/was there to run Sunday services well? Are/were there general performance-based fines that include Sunday statistics?

"Govia Thameslink boss in first class row"

Imagine actually wanting to advertise the fact you're in charge of Govia's (lack of) operations...

    Recycling of Names ?

It has a ring of grandeur, but perhaps it needs a few years away from that branding due to its negative perceptions. This is assuming the next Southern franchise is won by someone other than Govia.

    LNER Livery

The video in question! Appears the HSTs are painted red beneath the vinyl, while the Mk3s have been painted white, black, grey and red!

    "London..." prefix on station names

From what I recall, particularly with airports, rebranding themselves with the London prefix increased passenger numbers! Though I suppose that's not surprising...

    Scrolling Platform Indicator Screens

London Bridge station definitely has it, and I believe the Thameslink section at 'Stpancras' does too.

    Incident at Loughborough Junction (18/06)

My sympathies are with their families. Hopefully this highlights the risks associated with playing on the railway amongst the general public, particularly those likely to do things like this in future. I hate graffiti as much as the next person, but they're not in the same category here. People...

    Virgin East Coast Twitter

Virgin Trains aren't forcing passengers to actually attend a Pride.

Contingency Plans for Wartime and Invasion

I hope so...usually franchise handovers take a few months, but if it's the Russians who invade, they'll have to get it all done in 72 hours!

West Coast Main Line closed near Wembley (06/04)

Think of it not as compensation, but as a refund. Passengers pay for a service and, like any other purchase, if the retailer (the TOC) can't provide it, they are entitled to a refund.

    Should Seat Reservations Be Abolished?

Completely agree! This would also be combined with allowing people to 'unreserve' (i.e. realise they'll be getting a later/earlier train!) seats, as well as, perhaps on peak services, regulating how many 'may be reserved' seats there are.

    Should Seat Reservations Be Abolished?

The solution to this is making it easier to change/make reservations for those with flexible tickets, so long as the train hasn't started boarding at its starting point - which is hopefully the direction they move in with the Class 800. Thus reducing the overall number of passengers and making...

Who are 'UK Rail'? Appears on a sign at Cardiff Central

We'll find out in a couple of months!!

Row over female-only compartments being used by transgender people on Caledonian sleeper service

My god this story is silly, just MumsNet stirring the pot to aggravate people. This situation is really no different to single-sex hostel rooms where you self-identify on the website when you book - it can be abused, and if you have concerns that it is, you should speak to a member of staff...

Fantasy: Given no limits, how would you modernise your line?

Fixed it all - was a bit tired

Fantasy: Given no limits, how would you modernise your line?

On Midland Main Line: Electrification and moving block (ETCS 2) signalling. On the North Kent Line: Adding an extra track before Dartford, and switching to ATO between Charing Cross, Cannon Street, Victoria and Gravesend (and probably on the other metro lines to Hayes, etc.) Edited for clarity.

Lorry strikes bridge - What more could be done to prevent it?

The answer is obvious no? Ban lorries and carry everything by rail freight

If you can rebrand train companies, what would you rebrand them to?

Of course, would probably have to spice it up a little bit.

If you can rebrand train companies, what would you rebrand them to?

I would definitely bring back the Network SouthEast branding (including the sub-brand 'Highspeed SouthEast' for the HS1 services). Assuming a separation of the East Midlands franchise, I'd restore Midland Mainline, then merge the remainder of the franchise with the...

    Future Operator Branding Names

Would reverting to the old 'InterCity' branding (presumably with a bit more gloss) count as a neutral brand?
