Double Ditton and Smart Skip, early on a Saturday!

I've been out and busy already this morning! Trying to beat the mist was interesting but it didn't hamper too much in the end. :) Thanks to a 225 on an 'up' train I got two shots of the Ditton 'liner from both platforms at Northallerton as it was checked... On the approach...

I've got 7 in the space of time I'm reckoning on being there :) Not all will run but it's half decent for photos like

    Arten Gill Viaduct Advice

The S&C is not too far away from home but is a line that I rarely visit to photograph. As I am likely to be heading south later this year I have decided that it is time I 'mopped up' a few locations that I really should have done some time ago :) Arten Gill is one of them, its a good shot and...

Best places to get Freight movements in Scotland?

Despite being from the English side of the border it has become a bit of a tradition for me and a few mates to head north once or twice a year, and Prestonpans normally features in our plans! No exception this year, we've generally found the freight to be good, the location to be quiet and the...

    Crumbs! It's Cromwell...AGAIN

Many thanks :) OLE doesn't really suit a steam shot but it's out of the way here...as it says in the caption, this is the work of my partner-in-crime who hasn't made an appearance online in a while!! Cheers for the other comments, glad you like the photos!

Just over a year after I got myself back online with a Flickr account and its still going strong, thanks to all the views :) The first new shot uploaded was of 2Q66, Heaton to RTC worked by 31106. Latest upload is again 31106 on load 2 again, the same coaches in fact!! This time the set was seen...

    Steamy Surprise and Freighty Fred

An early finish today meant I fancied a bike ride to clear the last of my US jet lag. Checked my watch and decided I had time to get the Wilton 'liner and duly set off for Brompton, completing the shot. 66533 performing the honours: http://www.flickr.com/photos/clagmonsterrail/6967303801/ I...

    4L79 ex-Wilton at a sunny Eaglescliffe

Went out for 2Z08, but was cancelled due to 950001 being re-routed to RTC. Instead got 66542 on a first sunny shot of 'L79 instead :) It's good to be back at the UK!! http://www.flickr.com/photos/clagmonsterrail/6816374788/in/photostream

1820 GC Service off kings cross

That set was conducted by trained staff, there was a clearance issue but as far as I am aware that has been resolved. Sets don't work the route due to short platforms and lack of training.

1820 GC Service off kings cross

Bradfords are solidly 180s, crew not fully trained to work HSTs north of Doncaster. Not sure about the buffet problem, as I'm in the US. The TF issue ma be particularly bad in one set due to coaches being away on refresh. 10min delay could have been worse as well!! :)

    Favourite Airport

I'm about to add Terminal 3 (Heathrow) and Washington Dulles to my list ;) Jet out to DC in the early hours...so time will tell!! I will be sure to report back :p

    Does anyone model preserved/heritage lines?

An interesting idea that I've already considered ;) I may give it a try, although a running line, connecting to my mainline station is still my main aim, excuse for a turntable, mainline connection and run round loop. Gives the chance for my larger preserved locos to work 'properly' on load 3 or...

    Seal Sands Stagger : 66238 on 1Z66

66238 caught at Northallerton on 1Z66 to Seal Sands, as well as other North East freight branches, including some fairly slow track!! Here, however, the train is seen tramping north on the main having been held for time at Longlands Jn...

    Teen Tug Take Two - 60074 6D43

Making to most of the light(er) night for a sneaky shot of 6D43 before jetting off to DC at the weekend ;) 60074 provided train power, looking rather smart on a shortened train. http://www.flickr.com/photos/clagmonsterrail/6923786595/
