The Guardian have picked up on the fact that flushing sewage directly on to the tracks will continue into next year. West Midlands Railway say they will be locking toilets out of use on trains without retention tanks from January...
Penarth to Cadoxton via Sully and Swanbridge. Yes the old trackbed has been built on in parts, but it's a line that is desperately needed to ease traffic congestion through Penarth and to cope with the extra housing developments that the Vale of Glamorgan council have planned for the fields in...
In recent media/press releases about TfW having to keep Pacers in service into 2020 due to late arrival of the 769s and 230s, Porterbrook have said that:
As 170s are still in service with GA, there doesn't seem to be much acceleration of delieveries going on to TfW...
Documents released by TfW suggest that they are getting 6 x 150/9s from somewhere, although that's probably changed now, as DfT won't favour Wales over an English franchise.

Are GWR withdrawing all of their 8 x 143s by 31st December?
Northern and TfW have officially and publicly stated that they will need to continue to use Pacers beyond 31st December, but AFAIK, GWR haven't said anything publicly about keeping their 143s in service into 2020.
Does anyone know...
All very good but the 170s still haven't left Canton sidings since the first one was delivered almost 8 weeks ago, yet all 12 will be in service on 16th December - in 7 weeks time?
But with the kind of peak time overcrowding that DanTrainMan185 has described, is it really advisable for TfW to be getting rid of any Pacers until all 9 of the 769s are in daily service? Even if there are Pacers sitting in Canton sidings during the day, a 142+153 on a peak time City line...
TfW are saying the the media (and in that article) that 'some' Pacers will remain in service into 2020, implying that they'll be getting rid of some, maybe the 142s.
I don't see how they can afford to let go of any.
Welsh media have picked up on the Class 769 non-arrival, although this article doesn't tell forum members anything we don't already know

I've seen photos on FB today of the 170s in Canton sidings. The photos aren't very clear, but you can see that 'TfW/Wales and Borders' logo and branding has been applied to the GA livery, the grey strip has been left on the bottom of the train.
Must be the easiest re-brand for TfW so far, no...
The latest issue of RAIL magazine states that TfW have derogations granted for the 37 + Mk2 sets, but are still waiting for derogations for Pacers and some 150/2s to be granted.
That is for 'Cardiff Crossrail' and is a plan by Cardiff Council that is un-costed and un-committed, and is unlikely to happen until the 2030s, if it gets the go-ahead.
Nothing to do with Keolis Amey's current costed and committed to plans.
