Should Cambridge station be renamed now there's a North?

They could ask the public? But they will probably end up with "Cambridge Mc Cam Face"

I propose it’s renamed “Cambridge Awkward” in account of its location !

“Triggers Broom” is one of my favourites. When I explain this to work colleagues from other countries they love it.

How many of our Heritage Railways are in trouble?

    1) I often on a Sunday combine my interests and ride my motorbike to a heritage railway, its brilliant for getting to different line side locations and getting an action view. However I always make a point of heading to a station and buying some food in the café and or getting something...

Proposed redevelopment of St Pancras/Kings Cross by BR in 1966

I could not disagree more if I tried :- ) Arriving at St Pancras by Eurostar is the most fantastic advert for London and gives the impression of a modern dynamic city while preserving its heritage. Remember the majority of people are “normals” and can’t see the attraction of a filthy old...

A loft based N Gauge layout that never leaves home (some photos)

That is a cracking layout a credit. Have you had it featured in a magazine? Its worthy of it.

Why are people opposed to HS2? (And other HS2 discussion)

Very interesting item on YouTube regarding HS2 by a qualified rail engineer, putting some of the anti propaganda to bed.

POLL: What do you think was the best era for railways in Britain?

    Cambridge South new station opening

They really made a rod for themselves in Newmarket by building houses where the up line and island platform was. I cant see how they could expand Newmarket unless they buy back the old station building and the land in front of it, demolish it and start again.

    Cambridge South new station opening

Ha good point. I used to work on the science park so its burned in my memory. I must admit its very rare I would drive into Cambridge from the south, but I can imagine now you mention it, how bad it might be! I normally want to head to KGX or STP but when I do got to LST I prefer Audley End...

    Cambridge South new station opening

I am watching this with interest. I live about 15 miles out of Cambridge and periodically work in London. Currently I have to cycle to Dullingham or Newmarket and then change at Cambridge. However the service to Newmarket is not brilliant esp in the evenings. It would be very useful to park at...

Any news on proposals to build an alternative route between Exeter & Plymouth?

I should probably add, I grew up local to this area. Devon is packed with stunning beaches. This is not one of them, the best thing about visiting as a child was the trains. Plus as said above it’s not even the main beach for Teignmouth.

Any news on proposals to build an alternative route between Exeter & Plymouth?

First, well second post for me. Dusting off this thread as it seems the locals have the pitchforks out at the threat of losing their beach. I spotted it on Facebook and they have a URL as well: https://www.savethebeach.co.uk/

    Introductions

Hello Everyone this is 83A on the 16:11 service...... I’ve been interested in railways and engineering for as long as I can remember. I don’t have any tribalism, steam, diesel, GWR, LNER doesn’t matter I like it all. I was raised in the South West so grew up with Class 50s and HSTs, I now...
