Girlfriend uses them between Bingley and Leeds a couple of times a week. There seems to be problems every time these days. Most train companies' trains reach their destination late. Northern's even depart their origin late - they can't even get that bit right! Seems to be another meltdown on...
Didn't know about that. That's really useful considering 1-3 would also get me to Micklefield where my best mate lives and Wakefield which is handy for the Hepworth Gallery where I often like to go.
There are two ways to get from Bingley to Leeds on the train.
1: The easy way - directly on a train to Leeds.
2: The hard way - catch a train to Bradford Forster Square. Then walk to Bradford Interchange. Then catch a train from Bradford Interchange to Leeds.
If I buy a Bingley to Leeds...
My partner was due to commute from Bingley to Leeds on 30 May. She bought a return ticket from the machine in Bingley station. Due to the unfolding chaos at Leeds station caused by the trespass incident she decided to abandon her attempt to get to work and head back home. She asked the ticket...
This is precisely the kind of ambiguity that user testing exposes and enables designers to engineer out so there can be no doubt as to the meaning of something presented to a customer by the user interface, hence my suspicion that there is no UX team and that there has been no user testing. UX...
Regarding the machine opposite the ticket office at Bingley station...
One Friday I was heading to Leeds having finished work nearby at 15:30. The next train to Leeds would depart at 16:07 so I'd need a peak ticket (peak kicks in at 16:00) but because it wasn't yet 16:00 the machine defaulted...
Wires at Kirkstall Forge apparently.
From Realtime Trains:
18:18 Leeds-Skipton left six minutes late.
17:26 to Morecambe is still at platform.
My other half is hoping to be on the 17:41 Leeds-Skipton but I've told her the 18:18 Leeds-Carlisle might be worth considering as a back-up. This train...
As it appears from the pics that only the rear power car was affected, would it not have been possible to uncouple it and allow the front power car to drag the coaches as far as the nearest suitable location for detaining the passengers and organising their onward travel?
Trains used to turn round at Keighley back in the day, so it's certainly possible. There's a set of points near the level crossing at Kildwick, so it's physically possible to turn a train round there, if unlikely for logistical reasons.
That did cross our minds during the exchanges we had as...
A number of reasons...
- Absolutely no accurate information was forthcoming from staff so she didn't know where to go.
- Platforms were so crowded that she couldn't get anywhere near where I said the train she needed should be (I was on the other end of the phone with Realtime Trains on my...
My girlfriend was supposed to be on the 17:41 Leeds-Skipton as far as Bingley. Total chaos at Leeds station. Platforms dangerously overcrowded and staff unable to tell people anything. As there was so little information she eventually boarded the 18:45 Leeds-London Kings Cross and I drove all...
Back in 2004 I was on a FGW HST from Paddington to Penzance. We'd were up to speed out of Paddington when I went to the buffet car for some food and, as I was being served, there was a violent lurch one way. I was almost knocked off my feet - I had to brace myself against the inside of the...
Class 333:
Expand to 12 coaches to alleviate the bone-crushing overcrowding that happens on a daily basis. Lengthen platforms along the Airedale line as required.
Whatever was done to these units a few years ago that has resulted in them smelling like chemical toilets throughout, undo it...
Well, another XC Voyager (Edinburgh-Plymouth) is en-route due through at 22.52 (22:58 with delay taken into account). Currently passing Tiverton Loop. They're going to run out of room for them at Exeter St Davids if they keep cancelling them there!
XC Voyager was due to pass through Dawlish at 22:20 but, according to Realtime Trains "This service was cancelled between Exeter St Davids and Plymouth due to the emergency alarm having been called (VH)."
Same seems to be the case for one that was due to pass at 21:55, so I guess it's not the...
