If the stopping pattern was kept, how late could it of been at Shrewsbury? Then you've got the question of it arriving either before or after the 1219 Shrewsbury-Crewe stopping service, there's more potential for delays and knock on effects.

Does anyone know how much the single fare is on the 724 from Watford to Heathrow? Looking at it possibly in October coming from Crewe-Watford by train and then either the Rail-Air or the 724. I wasn't sure if the service came under the £3 single fare cap.

Thanks, flying out of London Heathrow on the 5th October (Sunday) so may choose to take LNWR to London instead of Avanti from Crewe if I can get a 730.

Whilst I agree with this also. A football parade could have been predicted to an extent, given a fanbase the size of Liverpool FC.

Also thanks to the station staff member for this insight. The TOCs only provided the capacity after the sheer numbers of people appeared in the AM to get to Liverpool - one does wonder why wasnt the capacity there in the first place. Could also the influx of people wanting to leave Liverpool...

There was no prior planning yesterday for the expected numbers. Parades have happened in Liverpool before for LFC to parade around the city for the fans. Plans only came into place after all the fans headed towards Liverpool in the morning. There wasnt any extra services in place days/weeks...

The extras have only come in today because of the sheer numbers - these could of been put into place weeks ago? It does wonder how many LFC Fans the TOCs were actually expecting to go to the parade, rather than what's currently heading towards Liverpool

I can understand unit shortages/crewing but an event like this, operators could of sorted something out weeks in advance. I think there's lessons to be learned across the board, it doesn't help LNWR 350s are dropping like flies today, already 2 cancellations Birmingham-Liverpool with faults.
