Hi - I have just run a couple of delightful services on the Tees Valley Line where I drive a class 31 coupled to a 2 car 101 DMU. Was this an actual practice in real life? It seems an odd and inefficient way to run a passenger service, but was quite enjoyable. The 31 isn't so sluggish in either...

Ah well, I just received a negative email from my third applicatoin to Northern. This time it was the Blackpool line which they are no longer progressing. Ah well, very disheartening but I guess I just wait for the next one.

As with many others posting today, I have had the double knock back from TPE and Northern. To say that I am disconsolate is an understatement.

And there's the kicker. I'd happily move to Scotland for a job like this, but I am guessing that they will want you to be in the area to apply.

Interesting. I've just received an email from Northern stating that I am still being considered for a driver position for the Manchester line. I applied first week in January. Perhaps things are starting to move after the Christmas break...?

I've read on here that some TOC won't allow drivers who have lad laser eye treatment. I think it's worth doing some digging on the subject.

I applied for TPE in Preston and completed all the online assessments satisfactorily. Have heard nothing since.

This encourages me no end! I am 53 and just applying now. I have passed a number of online tests and I'm just waiting to see if I'll be offered an interview now!

Can you pay for and take the tests indepenently? If so, it would be worth me doing this to see if I even stand a chance at becoming a driver. If not, I could concentrate my rfforts elsewhere.

I'm currently running trains with almost all of the head up display help turned off using the AWS. However I'm not yet sure how the speed limits work. Am I supposed to be at the signposted speed by the time I pass the speed limit sign or is there an allowed slowing down time /distance ? Thanks...
