Northern rolling stock changes post electrification

In case anyone is interested, there is a path booked tomorrow morning from Holbeck Depot to Nottingham. This is supposed to be the initial training run for one of the 170s. 475 and 477 are the two units currently at Holbeck, and I understand 477 might do the honours. The unit subsequently...

    Northern Class 195: Construction/Introduction Updates

I understand the jumper cables had been unclipped (and so are hanging lower than the normal position) as immediately after this move the vehicles were uncoupled in anticipation of being transported to the Czech Republic by road.

Trivia: Stations/Areas where the slow is FASTER than the fast lines?

There is a good example between Horbury Junction and Wakefield Kirkgate. From Horbury, the Down Slow is 60 until just before Kirkgate (just after the line passes under the Doncaster Lines) into Wakefield Westgate, although there is a short section where the line speed is 40 (for no obvious...

Route taken by trains during engineering work, Sheffield - Leeds 6/7th August.

Horbury Jn - Wincobank Jn closed because three bridges are being replaced, near Woolley, Skiers Spring and Chapeltown. Also Leeds to Wakefield Westgate and Leeds to Bradford Interchange closed due to Holbeck Junction being replaced.

Trivia: Stock that goes past your house

East Leeds: 142, 144, 150/1, 150/2, 153, 155, 158, 185, 66, HST, 220, 221 all regular pass at the end of my garden. I can't see them them in the summer, when there are leaves on the trees.

    13.05 Leeds - Blackpool today

I can answer this. The train (1B22) departed York on time, but was held at Church Fenton for two TPEs to pass. At Micklefield the Hull - Rylstone freight train was allowed through first. Finally, the unit (158792) had a fault and it was deemed necessary to do a set swap in Leeds. It got away...

Trivia: maximum number of consecutive 4-aspect signals viewable from a location

Signal sections are short in the Knottingley area. When driving from Knottingley towards Pontefract Monkhill, you can see four 4-aspect signals on the straight before Monkhill (after your pass under the A1(M). If you are routed down Cutsyke those signals show double yellow, yellow, red, green...

    Platforms

Regarding Leeds. Through platforms all have a signal halfway along the platform. Trains coming in from the west will be advetised as stopping at 8B or 8D. From the east, it's 8A or 8C. It's to do with where the trains stop being slightly different depending on the direction of travel. Platforms...

Some TPE trains tomorrow between York and Manchester (was 'All...')

I understand that the broken rail was temporarily repaired midweek (presume with plenty of duct tape); a 10mph TSR was imposed. Not been over it since last week- wonder if the temp fix has failed? Will find out as booked job today includes LDS - MCV. Heard the broken section of rail is a bespoke...

333 with boarded over doors on Neville Hill

I understand the 333s are having their doors overhauled. I don't think the unit currently at Neville Hill is same as the one that was there a couple of months ago.

I had heard it was being sent to Scotland, but unless the low-loader's sat nav was playing up I guess it's gone somewhere else.

    150 276

Yes, it is gone away for some repairs. The other half remains at Holbeck Depot.
