    Wi-Fi on the underground

The system is really starting to annoy me now. It diverts to the Virgin Media splash page *every time* I enter a new station. It used to be once a day. So, by the time the VM page has loaded, the train is just entering the tunnel.

    Wi-Fi on the underground

It's one day. --- old post above --- --- new post below --- Also, the wifi map has finally been updated: http://www.tfl.gov.uk/assets/downloads/corporate/wifi-stations-map.pdf It shows that all of the stations have now been activated (except the Overground stations plus Camden Town). (Of...

    Wi-Fi on the underground

Can't remember where I saw it, but a big part of the reason they're doing it pre-Olympics is to target foreign visitors, so they can use wifi without roaming charges.

    Wi-Fi on the underground

Why avoiding Crossrail? Because the wifi boxes/wires will have to be disconnected when work starts? --- old post above --- --- new post below --- This is REALLY annoying me! From the Virgin Media website: "Why does the Virgin Media Portal always appear when I open my browser in a station...

    Wi-Fi on the underground

I haven't done a speedtest, but it seems excellent. As fast, if not faster than my home wifi (15mbps). That's probably because I'm the only person using it.

    Wi-Fi on the underground

Currently live at every station on the Victoria Line. More due this month, and another load next month. By the Olympics, this will be the situation: http://pictures.recombu.com/digital/news/M10549/1338545716.jpg There will be a further 40 stations by the end of the year. It is pretty amazing...

    Wi-Fi on the underground

I think it's quite easy, they just block access to the ports that VoiP apps use. I've been on certain 3G networks where they do that. Never seen it on a wifi network, but I don't think it would be hard to do (you could even do it at home if you want!).

    Wi-Fi on the underground

They could bar VoiP apps like Skype (because they eat up bandwidth). That would keep the Tube free of the scourge of (voice) phones.

    Timetable quirks

That's really interesting Mutant! Thanks. The Bakerloo reverse sounds interesting, when is that? (And what's an ECS?). I'd love to discover some RRs - but I don't understand the working timetables! Can someone help me out, or give me a few interesting examples please! Huge thanks.

    Timetable quirks

Thanks, but the only LUL thing I could find on there (apart from Olympia) is: Northumberland Park Depot (Staff Platform or Cleaning Shed) - Seven Sisters [London Underground] [notes: Accessible only to or from Seven Sisters platforms 4 and 5. Northumberland Park Depot not accessible to the...

Are there any weird runnings, like the early morning Met over the Watford North Curve?

    Chiltern from Paddington

Thanks TEW. And am I right in thinking this is the only passenger service that goes through Old Oak Common? (And what's a blockade buster?)
