Recent discussion on the "Edinburgh Tram developments" thread has made me wonder: could/should there be a station on the main railway line that goes past Murrayfield Stadium, served only during rugby matches and other large events?

I presume there's a process which has been gone through to arrange the road closure. I would very much hope that as part of that the council or other authority who was approving that would at least highlight the need to speak to Network Rail or similar (and at best, would liaise on their behalf).

IIRC, the lionesses did win the Euros? And naming it Lioness Line is less likely to annoy Scots (and presumably Welsh and NI people) than the millionth reference to 1966! "Lioness Line" is however a bit of a tongue-twister, so I'm not a fan for that reason alone.

A lot of the new housebuilding around Shawfair isn't really walking distance to the station and much of that which would be walkable is made harder by poor footpaths. Once the development closer to the station happens, and footpaths improve, I'd expect to see usage increase significantly.
