Hi,
Hypothetical but I'm attending Glastonbury festival next month and will be travelling back to Birmingham on the Monday. I've found a decently priced advance ticket from Castle Cary that involves changing at Bristol.
My concern is that it leaves at what I expect will be the peak time...
For anyone who has visited, what is the food/drink provision like at this "halftime" stage? I've got a brief wait between trains this week and would be interested in what's on offer.
Also have VT opened a new first class lounge in the station yet?
Interestingly, not just in railway terms but in general terms it has been suggested that attitudes like this are what leads to higher instances of suicide. It is one of the few topics that we still have difficulty discussing as it is seen as "odd" or something that might "encourage suicide" when...
Things like this scare me, I am epileptic and although it is fairly well controlled I do get breakthrough seizures. People can suggest that it is the persons responsibility to be accompanied at all times but often this isn't practical or liveable. I do have to spend time by myself sometimes...
Wishing a speedy recovery to the member of staff involved, nobody deserves that for just doing their job wherever they may work. Hope they catch those responsible and throw the book at them.
I will say though that I am slightly saddened by the posts in this thread that seem to be concerned...
Just feel it is important to clarify that the Samaritans are there to offer support in a any situation, whilst they wont give advice in the traditional sense they offer a completely anonymous listening service and will speak to you about anything regardless of your role in the situation.
Birmingham Snow Hill has a "You are now entering a CTA" poster before you actually reach the ticket office. Presumably this voids the CTA as you could not buy a full range of tickets before entering, if the sign is to be believed.
I completely agree, however for me that is uneconomical as my wage has not risen anywhere near in proportion to my train fare over the last few years.
I quite enjoy catching the train to work but these rises combined with what I perceive to be falling standards of service by some operators...
It works both ways, there are times where certain posters use the fact they are rail staff to justify an argument when it is actually irrelevant. There is, at times, an attitude of "well I work in this situation so my opinion is correct and yours is irrelevant" which serves only to stifle...
Another rise in fares? Not that I expected any differently but it makes me glad I will no longer be relying on LM services on a day to day basis by next month.
A combination of unorganised rail replacement bus services and sheer incompetence got me back 4 hours late earlier this year. Thats in addition to the extra hour to account for the fact it was a bus instead of a train.
I generally find mobile phone conversations no more irritating than people having conversations of the same volume with a fellow passenger? Maybe it's just me.
Surely if LM are advertising the ticket as valid then the onus is on them to accept it and then correct the information they are providing to passengers? Pretty certain there is a consumer protection issue here if they are continuing to pursue payment in spite of the fact that this issue has...
They probably shouldn't be, I have able to travel back from Reading festival on advances for the last 3 years. You just have to get there a few hours early because of the crowds and the massive queues. I always feel absolutely terrible for other passengers on trains after events like this, it's...
Hatton is a fairly dismal unstaffed station, used to have to wait for connections there quite a lot when I was at college. The information screens were rarely in service and the shelter was usually vandalised in some way. The shelter on the platform as you enter is prone to flooding if it rains...
It may just be me but I would think that it would be unfair for any of us to call for the reinstatement of the guy when we do not know the full story or even have confirmation of the reason he was sacked. The only source we have is a semi-story from the BBC and an outraged Daily Mail story (a...
You certainly can, very useful for me as I often travel into the city just after morning peak and come home at 5-ish, if I just buy a ticket to Aston or Birmingham International I can avoid having to buy anytime and save myself a couple of quid.
I once had an argument with one of the gateline...
Milton Keynes- Birmingham New Street
1353 from Milton Keynes was cancelled. Next got to Northampton at 1439. 1500-ish Northamton to Rugby was full. 1515 was late, got on but it departed 1535. Got to Rugby at 1630, had the choice of waiting for 1715 LM service, would have got me in 2 hours from...
Well so far my journey has taken an hour longer than it should have. Will be an hour and a half before I arrive. Would have been two hours had I not forked out for a new ticket at Rugby. No LM staff at the station and their call centre is closed.
First bus I went to catch was cancelled, would...
