    Class 387 to GN

I've ridden a few 387 services so far, and one thing that has surprised me is that they don't seem to be able to regain lost time in the timetable if a signal has led to a 2-3 minute delay (often around WGC heading north)... I was expecting an almost brand new train to have faster acceleration...

    Class 387 to GN

If the 1743 ex KX (has normally been 12x365) was operated by 12x387, does that mean the 1813 was 12x365 today? I was under the impression that the 387 were supposed to be replacing the 321s so not sure why it was done this way round...?

    Class 387 to GN

Can anyone provide an update on which diagrams will be next to transfer over to 387s, and the timing of the remaining 387 units cascading onto GN. I'm particularly interested in the 1813 to PBO ex KX, currently a 12-car 321 service.

    Class 387 to GN

I took the 7.06 ex PBO from Sandy this morning. There were a lot of standees from Hitchin onwards. I was at the front of the second 4-car unit - nice to have a walk-through between all 8 cars, and the luggage rack right by the door is a better location than at the carriage-ends (which is where...

    Class 387 to GN

I'd be grateful if anyone can confirm if the 7.06 ex PBO is going to be a 387 on Tuesday (1 Nov)?

    Class 387 to GN

Are we thinking that the doors are going to stay dark green???! Surely light blue is how they should be. At the moment they look a mess, with the GN logo midway between the doors.

    GTR Timetable consultation.

It's probably worth pointing out that at present, there are no direct trains between St Neots/Huntingdon/Sandy/Biggs/Arlesey and stations south of Stevenage (e.g. WGC, Hatfield etc) in the morning peak and vice versa in the evening peak. Off peak, one TPH gives direct connections and the other...

    GTR Timetable consultation.

The consultation document separates GN Mainline (i.e. to Kings Cross) with the Thameslink services (i.e. to St Pancras). It looks like Biggleswade, in particular, benefits from a much-improved "fast" peak service to/from KX, compared to what's currently offered. Today, there are fast...

THAMESLINK services to Kent and Sussex routes 2018

The consultation document separates GN Mainline (i.e. to Kings Cross) with the Thameslink services (i.e. to St Pancras). It looks like Biggleswade, in particular, benefits from a much-improved "fast" peak service to/from KX, compared to what's currently offered. Today, there are fast...

    Class 387 to GN

Can anyone give any updates on how the driver training on the GN is progressing and whether there's any news on when the first 387s will enter service (and on which routes/diagrams)?

    Class 387 to GN

Do we have any indication as to whether the driver training is progressing as intended, and whether any unforeseen issues have arisen? Do we know when the first 387 will enter service?

    Class 387 to GN

Any ideas about the peak Peterborough limited stop services (e.g. first stop Hitchin/Biggleswade/St Neots)? I was thinking they would also be Class 387...

    Class 387 to GN

There's some good early info dotted around on other threads about the forthcoming use of class 387s on the Great Northern routes, but its interspersed with details around the 387s for GWR and GatEx. With that in mind, I thought it might be helpful to start a thread focused on the transition...

    Thameslink/ Class 700 Progress

Does anyone have any observations around certain aspects of the new units: - acceleration - ambient noise levels when travelling at speed (not that there seems to have been much of that, today) - speed of unloading/loading at stations

    Class 365 acceleration

Thanks for the responses. Does the refurbishment of the GN 365 units (i.e. the refurbished ones being the ones with the white/blue colour scheme and new seating pattern/upholstery) include work on the motors, or is this an "issue" that is not going to go away any time soon?

    Class 365 acceleration

The morning service I catch into Kings Cross is mostly a 12-car class 365. I have noticed that some units really struggle to accelerate smoothly/rapidly from stations. It feels like the driver is attempting to increase the power having got the unit moving, but then the traction appears to...

Great Northern - Class 321 vs Class 365

Thanks for the input. Is there any specific reason for the non-availability of a 365 in recent weeks on most days (I'd say the service has used a 365 only once or twice a week, recently)? Is it relating to the "refresh" programme for that fleet?

Great Northern - Class 321 vs Class 365

I've recently started a daily commute from Sandy to Finsbury Park (then onwards to Moorgate). The train I would normally catch is the 7.02am from Sandy, which is the 6.32am from Peterborough. Is there any way of finding out which unit is allocated to that service each day? The realtimetrains...
