I am sure I saw an Arriva (?) Malta bus on the M5 north heading to the M6 north, is that really possible ? Guessing probably (!) not really a long journey, but didn't want to start a new thread - why would it be there ?
Cheap or cheaper than the option of using your own vehicle ?
Additionally in the context of travelling distance to work - in the past did many people live closer to work or is that just how i've perceived things to have been i.e teachers close to their schools, station staff close to stations...
Would this be the cause of the delays and cancellations to LM services between 5 and 6 at Bham New Street. Needing a local train to Cov and found that the 17.33 was cancelled and showing as such, so decided to head home slowly initially getting the 17.36 ATW services to Bham Intl. The screen at...
Hi there
What is a southern metro service please and how do I know if on one?
Was curious as to when to use first class if standard is full - as i thought you could on those services, but have never been to sure when it is ok?
Metrodriver, sorry have re-read my comment and it does come over badly
apologies. The point about fares i think is valid - it is expensive if you are
expecting similar to bus / train fares particularly as far as the hawthorns.
With regards the wait yes i should of added a least some...
And scarily expensive when going from Snow Hill to The Hawthorns compared to the train! Plus the annoying wait at St Pauls (?) to get into Snow Hill - annoying bit of single track!
It'll be interesting to see how much they can increase fares by particularly on Midlands/Birmingham - London journeys, standard open fare, maybe my naivety, seem quiet high now. I know I can get LondonMidland only tickets and do do so, however..........
I was on a pendolino from London to Coventry / Birmingham - didn't get the set number and can not remember the time (meant to ask last Wednesday) but it went into platform 4 at Coventry which is not something I have seen ever I think (but not to say it doesn't happen) - originally I think it was...
Also if you buy in advance for 1 year old etc a very good way of getting access / reserving a seat together for all in the party - additionally thereby also helps with some of the bagage you sometimes need taking younger - babies / toddlers away ! ! We did it last year from Birmingham...
Not to mention when people are taking cycles down, luggage as they are going to International or families with push chairs trying to use the lifts! Does seem a tad bizarre if that happens
A gating solution? Sure Coventry used to have gates a long while back ?!
As for Birmingham New Street, hopefully any future lifts connecting the platforms will come up correct side of any ticket barriers to enable ticket checks!!!
I always thought a good fill in electrification project could be Coventry - Nuneaton Could then link a the WCML and Cov/Bham line and allow for potential diversions. Also seeing a single car class 153 head to Cov from Bham direction followed by a Pendolino makes me chuckle to myself -I need to...
Do the Trent Valley services stop at Rugby? Almost worth a Virgin ticket from Bham Intl to Rugby then LM to Euston? would it be quicker than the existing LM Bham Intl to Euston service?
Who ever wins it, it would be nice to think that the two early morning trains in to London at 5.50 and 6.11 (?) from Coventry are still available and still classed as off peak!!!
