I get no beef when dealing with RPOs, but the wrong people do get treated like borderline criminals when they really should be focusing their efforts on people going out of their way to cheat the system. I know that RPOs don't have it easy.
I'll stop there, otherwise I'll be veering wildly...
Revenue officers also seem to frequent Bromley South, despite the fact there are ticket barriers that are working 99.5% of the time.
They'd have a lot more fun catching people at Grove Park, where they've threatened to install barriers for years but have never done so.
Edit: I'd like to...
That's also ATOS, but with the TTS setting. Also god-awful, but for different reasons. Southeastern used the "Terrible TTS" option briefly before switching over to Annoying Anne.
I wish the TOCs weren't so hell-bent on rolling out this god-awful system. Oh, well. Another reason for me to carry some noise-cancelling earphones when I'm travelling around SWR territory.
I was very impressed when I was in Stuttgart and saw ramps magically pop out of the side of a DBAG Class 430 so that a wheelchair passenger could board. I'm sure there's a reason we can't have nice things like that, however.
This was something I can't understand. All stations served by the 700s needed new ramps to use with the 700s, and can only be used on specific doorways. This means that at Bromley South, they've got one set of ramps for the 465s, and 375s-377s, and then there's a separate set of ramps...
SE drivers that have signed Blackfrairs have signed all platforms, not just the bays. I've raised this with NR management in the past, but rather than having mitigation procedures in place for a "wrong platform", they're too obsessed with trying to attribute blame.
There is a junction just...
Traditionally, there has been that desire to take any "tagged" or vandalised trains out of service as soon as it is noticed, in order to avoid "parading" the graffiti around in public.
Southeastern's fleet is already stretched to capacity as is, so when you get a particularly bad spate of...
I wouldn't be all that surprised if removal of Guards on Southern has had a negative impact on GTR's skipped stops count. If there was a problem with DOO cameras, you had a guard. Now, you've got no member of staff to permit degraded working on a train and/or station with defective cameras. The...
If you were confined to a wheelchair and were able to reach the buttons, you still wouldn't be able to get on or off without a ramp or assistance. This is probably the reasoning that has been used to make an exception for door button compliance.
These dispensations don't make them exempt from...
The point of T-keys nowadays is that they're cheap, relatively sturdy and stop the majority of fiddlers or common vandals from getting into stuff they shouldn't. If someone is determined enough, they'll be able to get one.
If something is mission critical, then it should be behind a BR1 key or...
I think their days are numbered. There's very little else for them in 3rd rail land beyond SE London and Kent, and from a capacity perspective, they would probably no longer tick the boxes in an era where units are now specced-out to carry X number of people in Y amount of space. I would expect...
Surely the amount recuperated from the "express" £3.70 premium applied to GatX tickets is not enough to cover the lack of passengers using it. Anyone who isn't a completely clueless passenger will just spend the extra 5-10 minutes on a non-express service to save what might appear to be only a...
Not whilst they're being sub-leased. They've had some lightweight internal branding done, e.g. maps, blue stickers on saloon doors, PIS, etc, but unless the master lease was to be transferred to Southeastern, I doubt the interiors would see any further changes.
You never know. See what the...
There's nothing to say they couldn't do this, but it has been suggested that they probably won't. By themselves, the 466s aren't DDA compliant. The only place they have regular usage is to strengthen additional services (which would be DDA compliant on journeys longer than 60 minutes), used by...
St Patrick's Day might not have the same reputation as New Year, but it still seems to be used as a justification by some to go "on the piss" with little regard for others. The police tape opposite my house on the Sunday morning just gone is testament to that.
This has been a rather... heated...
You wouldn't be wrong about confused punters. The number of people I've spotted waiting to board the rear four coaches when the departure board explicitly indicates "front 4 only" makes me realise how little people pay attention to finer details, or use a bit of common sense to overcome an...
The train's on-board displays would have advertised St Pancras. The (majority) of passengers would get the reference and staff would also know - there are plenty of other ways to validate where the train is going if you aren't able to understand or comprehend wordplay in the English language...
