Im sure I seen an Azuma on the 10:00 Kings Cross to Aberdeen crossing the Tay Bridge today, does anyone know if this service has now switched to Class 800 or was it standing in for a failed HST? I was under the illusion that there was only one North and one South Aberdeen service
Any inside knowledge on the switch between overhead to diesel for the upcoming 800 Inverness service, possibly Stirling or Dunblane? As for the KX-Aberdeen the switch over would possibly happen at Haymarket?
With the rate of progress at Wabtec delivering refurbished HST’s failing surely the Scottish government must be looking at bi-mode class 800/802 as a replacement for the programme? With the EGIP nearing completion the focus must switch to electrification to Dundee, Aberdeen and Inverness using...
I agree, although the bridges might be an issue. Dunblane to Aberdeen would be straight forward. It would also allow the switch to electric freight haulage (Grangemouth-Aberdeen containers). I think politically if electrification is ignored for Dundee and Aberdeen and more projects get the go...
Dunblane to Aberdeen should surely be on the cards for electrification. HST’s can’t last forever and Dundee to Aberdeen is supposed to be a mainline. The rest of Scotland isn’t going to want continue to sit back and watch billions getting spent on central belt projects all the time
Seen a 365 heading out of Edinburgh along the ECML today. Is this a unit heading back to England or do the 365’s get stabled at Craigentinny/Millerhill??
