    Football and railways working together

As a football fan who enjoys travelling to away games, I have had to gamble on booking cheap train tickets for fixtures that could still be moved at the time of booking. I have won some and lost some. It is very frustrating. It seems mad to suggest that the responsibility should be put on the...

Heat on trains - What class is the warmest?

I always thought the 455s stayed surprisingly cool in summer. The hopper windows are quite good at moving air through.

    Weird Southern 12 car

I would say that is pretty unusual. Often see 377/3s formed with 4 car 377s. I have never seen a 377/6 with anything other than another 377/6, I don't think.

Class 442s - Now at the end of the road and to be withdrawn permanently

Sorry, yes, it was sarcasm. Just a little dig and all the desparate ideas that have been thrown around for prolonging the 442's life.

Crystal Palace FC charter a steam train for a match.

Yes that's right. No football fan can control themselves if they have had a drink. Despite the fact that the owner of these carriages and the engine on the front is a football fan. Perhaps he would smash his own train up after a glass of Merlot. BTP saw fit to post two officers on the train for...

Crystal Palace FC charter a steam train for a match.

It was £200 plus match ticket. Jeremy Hosking paid the additional £100 per person cost. Really good of him. He has been planning this for three years and was only able to do this game due to the fact that kick off date and time could not be changed by the TV companies. (last game of the season)
