    A career as a signaller

A question if I may - I'm moving house in a few weeks... Not very far, and it doesn't affect my distance to any of the roles I've applied for as such. Should I just email recruitment and tell them that my address has changed, and use the new address on any future applications?

That makes perfect sense - you are but one person. It's up to us to impress you, not the other way round. Keep up the great work :-)

You reckon they'd allow a commute from Glasgow to Paignton? ;-)

Well, I'll take your vacated job ;-) I'm just trying to get in as a person off the street, so the advantages and disadvantages of relief work don't matter to me... Applied for the Inverness Relief post - no idea what the FP is there, but nor do I care... I'd rather get in first, get some...

Don't be - remember that the only stupid question is the one not asked. It does help to do a quick search first, but don't be put off to use this amazing resource and font of knowledge!

Lol, if only... She's on a restricted diet due to allergies... She's more annoyed at the constant walking - I think she's part cat, likes it more when we're out the house most of the day... She'd love it if I got a 12-hour roster box!

That's a relief to hear! I'm "only" a BMI of 33, and am trying to reduce it (the dog's started to get tired of my s**t!), but that's at least one less thing to worry about immediately

Yeah, I'm going by the RSSB medical standards - if I recall correctly they require a BMI of 31 or less... Unfortunately I am 17kg above that for my height, and definitely fat (!), but no other health issues as far as I know

Speaking of medicals, how stringently are the BMI requirements applied? My six pack has suffered a little (OK, I never had one) during lockdown...

Scotland appears to have woken up - Craigo, Inverkeilor and Carmont all advertised in the last couple days... Excuse me while I go and revisit my CV!

We had the MMI as part of the stage 2 assessment centre. Ironically, I still don't know for 100% whether I passed it, as I never got any official confirmation... The simply fact that I'm still in the process is telling me I must've passed. No, it's the DMI I'm waiting for, for the Glasgow...

I wouldn't say so - we applied in December, some have started, others like myself have gone through the two assessment centres and are waiting on interview. It's been a multitude of reasons, certainly not helped by the coronavirus pandemic which has put training on hold as far as I know. We got...

Just got my rejection for Leuchars and Longforgan... Oh well, I'll keep going

Applied for the relief roles in Inverness SC... Annoyingly timed, two weeks before my parents move away from Inverness, but hey ho Does anyone know what the shift patterns are like? I do know one of the signallers, but would prefer to wait until I know if or otherwise I'm getting an interview...

I certainly managed it relatively quickly - not sure of the exact time, as it was quite some time ago now during the previous, now partially paused, recruitment drive!

The world would be such a simple place without HR... He says, eyeing up the pile of paperwork that would come my way if that happened

I had the same - had to sit the verbal test... I assumed it had to do with me changing my email

There is a signalling school in Glasgow as far as know, but other than that I haven't a clue
