    Covid-19 (Coronavirus) Support/advice

It sounds like you definitely have flu, but it may not be Coronavirus so don't assume when you recover that you have immunity. There have been many cases in my area - including myself - of severe flu earlier in the year before it could reasonably have been Covid19. The symptoms are pretty much...

Coronavirus: Is this the end of physical cash? Will we go completely electronic?

That's why I carefully specified "retail purchases", where you are effectively making a contract on pre-agreed terms, including acceptable payment methods. As you say, for debts that have already been incurred, for example restaurants, cash must be accepted to discharge the debt. But...

Coronavirus: Is this the end of physical cash? Will we go completely electronic?

I completely agree. My point was about the misunderstanding that people often have about "Legal Tender". I have cash in my wallet that's been untouched for around two months as I mainly use a debit card, contactless where possible, and I use it quite a lot so I'm aware of the real-life benefits...

Coronavirus: Is this the end of physical cash? Will we go completely electronic?

"Legal Tender" has no meaning for any retail purchase. Shops are free to accept or decline any form of payment they might wish to. I agree that declining cash makes little commercial sense though!

If you were forced to self isolate...

Nice gear. When I bought my Juno 106 back when analogue was all we had, it was a toss up between that and the JX3P. Easier to control on the fly (the 106) but only one DCO. Hope the dust brushes off! Enjoy.

iPhone XR camera adding colours to photos.

I think this is a product of the tiny sensor and the heavy processing required to give the resultant sharp, bright images, both of which greatly magnify any aberrations. The Leeds shot seems obviously and unsurprisingly to be lens flare from the bright light. The pics look pretty good to me...

Trivia: Place names that you're not sure how to pronounce

If you came from somewhere as fabulously exclusive as Skelmanthorpe, wouldn't you mention it at every possible juncture? (Not referring to "Clayton West Juncture", just in case you were wondering!) I've seen the theories on the etymology of Shat, but they all just seem too contrived. The truth...

Trivia: Place names that you're not sure how to pronounce

Exactly. In the local accent, Yetton and Burton make a kind of sense, but I could never work out where "Shat" came from. Speaking diallectically of course... To keep this in a rail context, all three locations were served by rail at one time. Edit.. Doctor Who is, of course, a proud "Shat Lass"!

Trivia: Place names that you're not sure how to pronounce

That old chestnut. In casual conversation, maybe. But "Slath-waite" or "Slath-wit" would be the accepted correct pronunciation, especially when in more formal conversation or with those unfamiliar with the area. In the same vein, Skelmanthorpe was always "Shat", Kirkheaton was "Yetton" and...

    Station association

Ty Croes translates to English as "Cross House" and, so far as I can ascertain, is one of only two surviving stations with names directly linked simply to a settlement where two roads crossed. The other survivor is Cross Gates, then just a small village a few miles from Leeds. "Gate", in this...

Have TPE finally given up on the Scarborough service

    No, just against protocol.

Is TPE InterCity or Regional Express, and what sort of stock should operate it as a result?

I was aware of the proposed upgrades, but your post, in reply to LittleAH's concerns, seemed to suggest that a new route - NPR or otherwise - would by default include Huddersfield, which seems a presumption too far at this stage.

Is TPE InterCity or Regional Express, and what sort of stock should operate it as a result?

Your post also confuses me a little. Do you mean splitting express and stopper services on the current route - as was the case until fairly recently - or a new express route altogether? If the latter, what are your expected route details?
