    Blackpool - Manchester Electrification

How are you going to run a service if the line is blocked by essential engineering work. Or are you suggesting they plod along with 8 hours possessions each night and finish the job in about July? As a resident of Blackpool, the RRB service is fine and almost as good as the trains it replaces...

    Blackpool - Manchester Electrification

I understand, and having just been passed Blackpool North and the old Devonshire Road hospital site which is used as a work compound, I can quite believe it, that there is still a lot of steel work to go up over all six platforms at Blackpool North, which incidentally currently don't have...

While out and about yesterday, I noticed that wires were being run between Layton and Poulton and had crossed across Carleton Crossing.

Indeed Preston to Blackpool North by the non-stop bus seems to be taking under 40 mins in either a coach or a brand new double deck bus, both are warm and comfortable. You could travel to Blackpool South from Preston using a somewhat worse for wear bus body on 4 square wheels in 40 minutes and...

Not directly linked, but related, Harrowside Bridge in Blackpool is due to re-open to road traffic a good month early probably before 12th Feb. The work is nearly finished, with site clearance already underway. Squires Gate Lane bridge is also ahead of schedule.

You're answer for plans is here: https://www.blackpool.gov.uk/Residents/Parking-roads-and-transport/Transport/Blackpool-tramway-extension.aspx As to how it's going, there is no "above ground" work yet ongoing and won't be this winter, just utility diversions.

Stories doing the rounds in Blackpool that Blackpool Transport have been asked to provide buses from North for an additional "upto 9 weeks". I also understand for someone who works for one of that contractors that they are still awaiting final specification from Network Rail for certain issues...

    Arriva Rail North DOO

Nope, they have run a couple of additionals and they have doubled up a couple of services from Preston, but mostly it's been back to BTs garage and park up and into the mess room!

One really stupid thing that this strike has brought about is the RRB buses to and from Blackpool. Yes, they are running to a strike timetable too! So there is no South service after 7pm and only an hourly all-stations from Preston to North and nothing back to Preston after 7pm. Blackpool...

Harrowside Bridge is not being replaced, it is however having significant repairs and strengthening work to it. There are a number of "properties" under the approach on the sea-side which ended up with the quote for complete replacement being somewhere around £10m!

The Flexites use Little Bispham turning circle every day during the illuminations, A mere 7 an hours use it during the peak evening service and have done for three years.

All of which already happens far too often on trains with guards whose job includes revenue collection. The guards will often comment that they didn't have the time to do a revenue sweep because they were too busy doing the doors. So a second person with revenue responsibility but no control of...

On a trip between the Blackpool and Preston yesterday, I noticed that a decent number poles between Staining and Kirkham have received their cantilever bits and bobs. Was sat wrong side both ways but probably about 20-30 in total, and I suspect that will have increased last night...

I understand that a selection of steel work of the sort that will eventually sit on top of piles has appeared in the Singleton area between Kirkham and Poulton.

Some of the Flexity drivers are passed on the heritage fleet, but not a lot. It is mainly the ones that pre-date the conversion, but some newer ones have been trained up. The same applies to conductors. In daily service the heritage fleet are mainly crewed by volunteers not employees. they...

You may think that but Blackpool's non-season is a lot shorter than you think. After the lights go out in early November, it's pretty quiet until the lead up to Christmas but gets pretty busy over Christmas and New Year, then you have pigeon weekend in January which is packed and normally a...

They are still awaiting the go ahead for the TWO. It should have been given the go by the end of May, but I guess we are awaiting until after 8th June. The planning application for the changes to Wikko's site is in Neighbour Consultation until 1st June. Some early preliminary work is...

Future of the Blackpool South line

By "new trains", I assume you mean something different to the 150s and 156s the line already gets and that will replace the Pacers?

And indeed, if they are a public service, they should serve the public. For instance, a no-strike rule should apply to all rail workers.
