Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

Trains are running today (sat) and using Batley and Dewsbury stations. Sarah's video from yesterday shows the 2 stations fairly complete with last minute platform surfacing in hand and the Dews footbridge roof not fully finished. Looks to be much further work in the future mainly with snagging...

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

I think the line through Dewsbury and Batley are due to open this Sat 27th. Not seen any updates for a couple golf days but the last Sarah Bell video showed the platform edgings and surfaces far from complete. K

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

3 very detailed drone youtubes posted by "buried by time and dust" Seems almost all workers are concentrated on Dewsbury and Batley with other sites being fairly quiet 1. Huddesfield station looks much tidier then of late and with lots of scaffold for the east end roof extension which may be...

For the 810s I wonder if Hitachi changed the door supplier from there usual internal sliding plug door. K

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

If they use the same method of track laying for most of the fast lines they will need a another blockade as one line was used for the spoil and ballast trains. Watching the Youtube vids digging out what looked like a 2ft deep trench for the track bed needed quite a few long spoil trains. K

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

I think thats not the river but the canal which was spanned several months ago. The river is awaiting the completion of the east bank pier and columns. K

Class 810 for East Midlands Railway Construction/Introduction Updates

Like other new trains do the 810s have to run so many miles on test (was it 1000) before accepatance. K

    HS2 Class 895s (Hitachi Alstom High-Speed)

May have missed it but what is the proposed coach length. Reading various bits in Modern Railways over the years the opinion seems to be that the 26m like the IEP was not a good idea for the uk loading gauge due to ride and tapered ends. K

Perhaps they haven't made the recent loop extension long enough. K

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

Strange that the northbound curve is 90mph but the outer lager radius southbound curve is 85. K

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

I note from the latest Robert Stenhouse picture on Flickr that Ravensthorpe Leeds direction Platform 1 has been removed. Presumably Platform 2 will follow on the next possession. K

Is there any sign of more than the current 3 diagrams being introduced? Thanks K
