A short journey today was enough to tip me over the thousand mark as well, 1,007.7 to be exact.

I wouldn't write Clapham Junction off so easily - I was entranced by the place at a similar age. Admittedly there were slammers then, but I liked the other stuff too.

I have a trip booked for the end of the week that will include Merthyr Tydfil and Shrewsbury-Chester, my first new track for the year. Beyond that, I've always wanted to do the West Highland Line, so hopefully I'll finally get round to that.

January was a pretty poor month for me, but this month has got off to a better start with a trip to Chichester today bringing the total up to 386 miles. Well, I think it's alright, anyway.

Hmm, I've asked them and they want to limit the journey to one change and have flexibility, so via Clapham Junction would seem to be the only option.

I think they would prefer to take a direct train from Exeter to Clapham Junction and another one from there to Brighton to minimise changes. Pkkelly's post would indicate that there isn't really a better option than the normal return, but thanks for trying.
