Interesting, although I don't think the comparisons with the ferry or air travel are valid, as they have clearly stated check-in times.
I am generally in favour of the doors closing before departure time, however it must be frustrating for people who don't travel on the railways very often...
Brilliant - thanks for your help!
Do you think I should also be able to use it to get off at Wimbledon? It's handy to grab some food shopping on the way home. I presume its ok to break my journey?
Thanks again. :)
Regarding first class on Southern....its a joke. I emailed their customer services team once, but don't have the email, asking what the difference between standard and first class was. Their response basically said
1) more chance of getting a seat
2) there is the use of an antimacassar on...
I would disagree that the majority of civilised people wouldn't regard it as acceptable to eat on the train - after all, food is available for sale on board many trains.
My journey from hell was on the evening of Valentine's Day 2009. Boarded an FCC Brighton service around 7.00 with a colleague. We got stuck at Balcome and remained there for the next three hours (so this gets us to around 10.30pm). Was then shoved onto a replacement bus service to Brighton...
Hi all,
Quick question regarding a South Merton to Elephant & Castle paper season ticket - is it valid only via Wimbledon (a service from say Sutton to Luton), or will I also be able to use it via Mitcham Junction (going into Sutton and then via Carshalton up to E&C)?
My friend had a nasty...
We have departed now. Estimated arrival time at London St. Pancras is 09.26.
Does anyone know if I am entitled to claim any money back? I travelled from Worthing with my Zones 1-6 Gold card. London to Thetford is another ticket.
When I joined the 0700 First Capital Connect service from Brighton to Bedford this morning, the world was a different place. My mood ws light and my thoughts jovial. After reading The Times for a while I thought I would take a short nap. Burgess Hill is my normal napping station, so I closed my...
I normally see a Brighton-Bedford 8 carriage 377/5 pulling into London Bridge just as I'm leaving on the 18:12 service.
I also traveled on a 377/5 from Burgess Hill to London Bridge on Thursday morning - it was only a 4 carriage service, and it was absolutely full to bursting. A quite...
I do have to say that I think the remark about them always getting a seat, whilst obviously made in jest, is still in fairly poor taste.
I agree that it takes time to alter the buildings of an entire network to enable proper disabled access (especially when some of the buildings dealt with...
I much prefer the 377s with blue seating and orange hand rails compared to the ones with horrid green seat covers - the blue seats are much softer to sit on. The layout of the carriages is also much better, with none of those annoying seats with the angled back and no arm rests.
Talking of first class, does anybody understand the point of having first class sections on Souther 377 services? I emailed Southern once to ask, and was told that being able to get a seat and the antimacassar were the benefits. On the services I travel on, travelling first class wouldn't mean...
When travelling, I will obey all instructions given to me by staff too. However on this occasion, there is nothing on either my ticket nor photocard that suggests that LUL staff have the right to ask for my photocard. This is the reason for my original question. My annoyance stems not from being...
Not to be blunt, but I asked a perfectly valid question and in a perfectly polite and respectful way. I did not expect to come back to a barrage of abuse from you. I am not here to complain about the process, only to ask whether it is within the rules and whether I am legally required to comply...
Hi all,
I have noticed something odd of late when using Canary Wharf tube station. I currently have a gold card including a travelcard, but for a few weeks it has refused to go through any ticket barriers ("seek assistance" etc). 99% of the time I show it to gateline staff and they just wave...
Have entered my mileage and it seems I am in third place (almost in second!!). I added my original total and then had to amend it to include a business trip between London Euston and Glasgow Central! :D
