Definitely not true there are plenty of external jobs advertised and once you are an internal staff member you will be able to apply for the role of train operator. Also Pro rata that is a great wage for two nights work you would still have plenty of time during the week to work another job...

Sorry to hijack congrats to those who have passed and those who have been given assessment dates my partner has his first assessment 12th September other than the practice material can anyone recommend any other sites/that ways to practice? I didn't have to do enhanced test so it's all new to me.

I didn't say there was a difference between weekend nights and weekday nights there's a difference between working day shifts than working nights be it two days or not. Like I said it's frustrating being told 12-18months to then be told 3-4 years. I'm grateful for my role its just harder now...

I'm unsure where I said I was complaining about the salary or the amount of days that I do. My personal circumstances makes the night shift work more draining. no where have I said I don't like my role nor that I am not lucky to have the position so many are desperate for.

Understandable but given that we were also told 12-18months for full time to being told closer to 3-4 years makes a difference. Again not complaining about the job I have it's just frustrating being told one thing to then be told another.

I agree with this I know we are incredibly lucky to have this role but the weekend work is soo draining and to only have 8 weekends off a year is harsh.

Hiya yes start date is in November I believe they had starts dates for November January and Feb but this was a while ago he got to choose so not sure what dates are still available

My friend got offered the role about 2wks after the interview

My friend has been offered the role starting training in November. Like above really you do two tests online and they will contact you for an interview if you pass.
