    Redcar Level Crossing Accident (01/05/2024)

Hmm, I certainly look both ways at a level crossing because that was how I was taught together with looking both ways at a road signalled crossing. I've been saved a few times in the second instance because I spotted a driver that wasn't going to stop at the red light. Never met a train though.

No I mean, according to the report, one wheel on a fixed axle locked up and stopped rotating. So what happened to the other wheel on the other end?

Derailment near Carlisle - 19/10/2022 - 1715 Clitheroe Castle Cement Gb to Carlisle N.Y. (6C00)

Surely if one wheel on a fixed axle were to stop rotating the opposite wheel would also. Or am I missing something?

LNER unreliability caused by staff shortages

It died when the railway was split up into fragments. The Idea was to make sure there wasn't a large bulk of workers that could hold the country to "ransom" ie. ask for worker's rights.

I have a suspicion that this person does not exist. I think all faults are rectified in the depot.

2 trains in Kent forced to make emergency stop due to cyclists ignoring safety lights at crossings

The problem with a bike is it's lots of spindly bits held together with some very tough bits and the soft bits can get deformed no problem but hardened steel shafts at the correct angle can lift a wheel set. Trees etc. tend to present a blank face to a unit. The process of derailment is a very...

2 trains in Kent forced to make emergency stop due to cyclists ignoring safety lights at crossings

Actually in the first case it was less than 5 seconds and you can see that the first rider saw the train coming and hurried his mates on. The second was just under 7 seconds. Either way they all ignored the instructions. Lucky people really. One day that luck will run out.

Another lorry through the barriers at Manningtree

Might I say that forensic analysis of video footage is a very skilled and technical job. I am not such a person and really wouldn't like to comment apart from the one that I placed up thread which was a bit of a fag packet look!

Another lorry through the barriers at Manningtree

The way to stop it is enforcement cameras, or closing the LX permanently. I agree.
