Aren't wooden sleepers used for a transition between concrete and steel sleepers ? Seem to remember my old track mate telling me something along those lines as well as wooden sleepers having a right way up.

And if course the WSM extension will need resignalling.

I would suggest that in that case the Hi Viz is used as a means of identification and not in its role of PPE.

All newer signalling, telecom and D and P cables are marked with Network Rail and the type of cable. A few years ago I was helping BTP with a "sting" operation and we did find older but still marked cable in a scrap yard. So no, not a fragmentation issue.

I should have written protect instead of waterproof but it is a bit early for me and rational thought. :D

I'm wondering whether EPS blocks will be used for the back fill and the sheeting is for waterproofing those blocks. It was certainly the way we did it at a similar bridge in the Bristol area a couple of years ago.

Does TFW have a SCADA system installed? I know that SCADA system I've seen has its own dedicated 48 fibre cables. That might prove better for spare fibre capacity than the FTN or at least offer diversity.

Fibre is easy to joint and test nowadays. Back in the day an 8 fibre cable could take up to 12 hours to repair if you were lucky. I suspect the French jointers will enjoy the overtime.

Just a couple of thoughts. If the wall has to have a barrier installed as instructed by a judge then will it have to be closed until said barrier is fitted as it's been deemed to be unsafe in its present condition ? Again if the barrier gets damaged then again will the walkway have to be closed...

Iirc the canopies needed to be cut back to allow clearance for the ole but as that wasn't allowed the platforms had to be extended instead.
