With reference to the Leamington Spa to Birmingham pricing, Chiltern were very happy to put notices around Leamington station telling everyone that XC were responsible for the new Off-Peak restrictions when introduced, whilst also providing the address to write to at XC stating that is they who...
What happens if the passenger can't swap it by the the time they get off the train, the ticket office at the destination is closed and they need to continue their journey by bus? I can't see a bus driver accepting a train ticket (or Permit to Travel) for part-payment.
The n-Network Daytripper has been refused sale to me from Leamington (even if wanting to buy an add-on to Leamington with it) and I was told it's because it's a Centro sponsored ticket and therefore must be bought from within the West Midlands.
I've no idea whether a bus driver will sell you...
They've shortened it to Worcester now and I used to get on it at Leamington and feel really sorry for the conductor having to name all the stops.
Another bad one is the 0615 Worcester Shrub Hill to Stratford which has 31 stops (4 of them request) and takes 2h 06min to complete. The distance...

In the Midlands I can think of a couple one-way weekday services:
0555 Snow Hill to Stratford (runs via the Hatton curve between Lapworth and Claverdon)
1936 Walsall to Wolverhampton (runs direct)
Centro have already installed smart ticket machines on the majority of buses in the West Midlands although the only people who can use it at present are Concessionary Pass holders. Info here
It would be nice if one card could be used across different regions, though so far I've not seen...
The hourly service was withdrawn in Central Trains days when Chiltern increased the frequency of the Birmingham to London service to 2tph. It would make sense for LM to take the route back over on an hourly basis (and extend a Dorridge train like they used to) as Chiltern have started a 2-hourly...
I've done this route a few times and the cheapest non-advance train ticket I found was to travel to Hayes & Harlington via Reading (but travel short on a Leamington Spa to London Terminals ticket) and get the bus from the stop outside the station to Heathrow. This ticket price depends on when...
