    GTR application question

Could you define which role it is you're applying for?

Living outside the 60 Minute required area.

I applied for a shunter position which didn't stipulate any journey time or distance requirement in the advert. They used the distance I'd have to travel as a reason to reject the application. It was part time so I could have travelled there for the 2 required shifts a week. It wasn't an...

    Becoming a trainee train driver

If you are invited for testing the company you applied for will send you relevant practice material. In my opinion there is no need to pay for additional material as it's relatively simple to understand and pass with the practice material they give you. The Group Bourdon Tool discussion is...

GTR - Trainee Train Driver vacancies (07/12/20)

I'm in St Leonards and it was a no from Southern today. Think just a bit too far for reasonable commute. Did apply for Thameslink as well - assume the result will be the same at some point soon.

GTR - Trainee Train Driver vacancies (07/12/20)

Yeah I wondered if I should apply for Thameslink and also Southern. Did you just put same answers in both? - assuming same questions were asked in each application form.

    Infuriating NR recruitment policy!

It's recruitment all over! Already passed the OPC psycometric testing - train companies reject your application and pay for other candidates to go get tested. Got the experience - they can't see it or don't want it. The best option is to ask why they didn't want to take your application...

Colas Rail UK- Apprentice Train Driver

Thanks for this excellent info. Having applied three times to Colas and never heard anything back I suspected it was because they had a small recruitment team. Is always good to get a response from an application, even when unsuccessful. Hope to hear from them this time as has been suggested by...

    Trainee driver adverts

Following the companies you wish to work for on Facebook often results in a notification that they have posted roles they are recruiting for. It is sometimes luck that you look at the right time. As others suggest daily checking of all resources helps. Best wishes for finding something suited...

    Shunt drivers

It may be different across companies and depots, also different for freight. Southeastern just had a part time shunter job share available. It was adverstised as 2 days on with 6 off. 10 hour shifts either 2 days or 2 nights. I would imagine that as a full time position it would have been 40...

Yup - despite open until 30th they've taken it down. Always small window of opportunity for these roles.

    Getting a job with Southern

Despite it seeming like there is no point applying, you should always apply if that's what you want to do for work. There is no logical way to describe recruitment processes and you may be one of a hundred with the right skills for the job. The effort required to keep applying and the emotions...

East Midlands trains qualified Video interview

I just completed the interview. 2 questions. About 20 seconds to think of your answer and 90 seconds to give the answer. It is not an easy task in my opinion and I wish they didn't use such recruitment devices - but such is life. More time to think would be much better and less to answer :)...
